Keeps abreast of the latest developments and innovations in the field and conveys vital information to other staff, managers and physicians in order to help assist with strategic planning in that regard. * Recommends purchases of equipment and may assist in the installation and optimization of new analyzers and apparatus.     COLLEGE LABORATORY ASSISTANT I - URBAN AGRICULTURE (PART-TME) OLIVE-HARVEY COLLEGE Olive-Harvey College is looking for a part time College Laboratory Assistant to maintain the day-to-day functions of greenhouse facilities for Urban Agriculture discipline, including but not limited to watering, planting, pruning, maintenance and procurement of supplies. The position includes extensive, ongoing interaction with students, faculty, and staff and performs related duties as required. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: * Maintains greenhouse facilities in an orderly and clean manner that ensures safety rules are followed. * Maintains a computerized inventory/checkout system for equipment in greenhouse with an emphasis on the state Seed to Sale monitoring system. * Prepares ordering service for a complicated range of equipment in Urban Agriculture department labs. * Creates requisitions, tracks shipments to storage and maintains and delivers supplies for all areas of the Urban Agriculture department. QUALIFICATIONS: * Graduation from high school or the equivalent, supplemented by two years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. * Considerable knowledge of greenhouse management or an equivalent combination of training and experience is preferred. * Experience working in an academic environment is preferred. * Considerable knowledge of three or more of the following disciplines: Hemp, cultivation, breeding, genetics, greenhouse management, plant propagation is preferred. * Ability to plan, organize and supervise the work of subordinates. * Must be computer proficient with knowledge of a variety of software programs. * Ability to instruct students on use of laboratory equipment through use of strong organizational skills, and good verbal communication. * Ability to support students with instruction and resources. Salary: $17.00-$23.66 per hour Offered salary will be determined by the respective collective bargaining agreement and applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
