Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT), Onsite Shift: Monday - Wednesday, 7 PM - 7 AM Summary/Objective: The medical laboratory technician position is responsible for conducting laboratory tests which provide information to physicians for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of diseases in patients under the direct supervision of a medical technologist, supervisor, or director. Required Education and Experience: Minimum Associates' degree as Medical Laboratory Technician. Successful completion of an examination approved by the Georgia State Department of Human Resources (GDHR). Successful completion of required Medical Technician certificate. Demonstrated ability to perform medical laboratory procedures in accordance with the policies and protocols in effect (assessed within 90 days of hire). Incorporates principles of educational methodology in the instruction of new employees and students and in the laboratory's in-service/continuing education program. Gives support and guidance to support personnel. Participates in development of special projects. Participates in continuing education and quality assurance and promotes service excellence at ORMC. REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE : Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from accredited college or university; or Bachelor of Science in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences and has at least one year of pertinent laboratory experience or training accepted by the Georgia Department of Human Resources; or three years of academic study (a minimum of 135 hours or equivalent) in an accredited college or university and successful completion of a course of training at least 12 months in a school of medical technology approved by the Committee on Allied Health Education Accreditation of the AMA; or meets requirements for a Technician and has at least 4 years pertinent laboratory experience; and has successfully completed an examination approved by the GDHR. Must be classified, or eligible for classification, as a Medical Technologist by the Georgia Department of Human Resources. (High Complexity Designation) LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION : AMT, ASCP, NCA, ISCLT, or HHS or other agencies recognized by the Georgia Department of Human Resources. Under general supervision, the Instructional Aide assists instructors with providing education and\/or training to technical college students. Assists faculty with laboratory and classroom safety and management, including monitoring students in the classroom, labs, dual enrollment, and\/or telepresence learning environment. Provides substitute teaching coverage as needed. Completes all assignments in a timely manner and maintains accurate records. Maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Policy Manual and accreditation standards. Follows rules and regulations as described by the TCSG Policy Manual and other policies and procedures established by the institution. Position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: § Monitor students in learning environment § Assist faculty with laboratory and classroom setup, safety and management § Maintain and clean classroom and laboratory § Monitor and maintains classroom\/lab supplies and equipment § Provide substitute teaching coverage as needed. Location\/Schedule: This position is projected to work 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Fridays. Position is projected to serve CGTC's northern counties of Baldwin, Putnam, and\/or Jones with travel to other college campus locations as needed, including dual enrollment high school sites. This position is scheduled to work all 12 calendar months per year and at a maximum of 29 hours per week. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Must upload transcripts which show conferred educational degrees and document qualifications in the employment history: · Earned High School Diploma or earned GED Preferred Qualifications, in addition to the minimum qualifications: Preference may be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, provide transcripts of conferred degrees and demonstrate in the employment history possession of one or more of the following: · Documented working knowledge of safety practices in a classroom\/lab setting · Documented teaching experience at a secondary or post\-secondary level in a CTAE discipline. · Documented teaching or learning experience in a telepresence learning environment BenefitsSalary \/ Benefits: Projected annual gross salary of $15 per hour.
