Job Description
HCI is seeking experienced travel medical laboratory technologists/technicians for multiple travel positions in Grand Rapids, MI as well as throughout the state of Michigan. All shifts are available, mostly in hospital lab settings. These travel contracts are initially 9-weeks long with the possibility of extensions.
These are full MT/L generalist roles, must be able to cover all departments. Experience and proficiency with Epic is preferred and a big plus! Travel experience is preferred with a minimum of 3+ years recent experience.

Job Summary:
Discover the presence or absence of disease and provide data that help physicians determine the best treatment for the patient. Specialty areas of laboratory medicine include clinical chemistry, hematology, transfusion services, clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, serology and the emerging field of molecular diagnostics.
Skill Requirements:
Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot and maintain the equipment
Dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required to collect and prepare specimens
Lab safety and infection prevention is of paramount importance
Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
Performing testing in any and/or all of the following areas of the lab: clinical chemistry, hematology, transfusion services (blood bank), clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, serology, and the emerging field of molecular diagnostics.
Matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens; arranging reports for delivery; Maintaining quality results verify and equipment function, troubleshooting, calibrating equipment and monitoring quality control measures and protocols
Participating in staff training and educational opportunities; Identifying and communicating abnormal patient conditions reports mandated information to the public health department or other designated officials
Contributing to a safe and secure environment, following established standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
Maintaining patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential
Education, Certification, & Experience:
MT/MLS: Bachelor's degree in science and MLS(ASCP) certification or equivalent
MLT: Associates degree in science and MLT(ASCP) certification or equivalent
Three (3) years of experience
Epic experience is preferred
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without sponsorship.

Perform test procedures of moderate/high complexity requiring the exercise of independent judgement and responsibility in those specialties in which they are qualified by education, training and experience.

Summary
The medical technologist performs testing on patient specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes and reports the results. SUMMARY
The lab technician will be responsible for the daily operational requirements of a mechanical testing laboratory within the PPE industry. Keep current on regulatory compliance developments and changes within the PPE vertical. ISEA, ASSP, ANSI, NFPA.
Submit RFQ's to 3rd party laboratories when inhouse services are restricted or not offered.
Support a robust product development and management team.
Manage 3rd party vendor scheduling, ensuring equipment is calibrated and well maintained.
Support R&D in vetting new materials against specific performance requirements.
Support Quality Assurance team as requested.
Support Product Management team by owning all aspects of 3rd party testing requirements of the 2016/425 regulation in EMEA markets.
QUALIFICATIONS
1 year lab experience would be nice but not mandatory.
Must have strong organization skills and good working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems.
Attention to details and ability to multi-tasks is a must have.

The Opportunity
Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process.

The Role
In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assists qualified donors in completing the screening process. The screening procedures includes but are not limited to: assessing the self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions associated with the donation process, referring donors to medical staff when appropriate and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature. Upon completion of the appropriate training, may educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma. Ensure that all donor questions are answered timely, accurately and professionally.
May be involved in registering applicant and transfer donors based upon completion of appropriate training and operational needs of the center.
May answer the telephone and answer callers question or transfer call to appropriate staff member.
Maintain alertness and awareness to any reaction by a donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
Understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
