I would advise graduates in physics to become very fluent in computational and numerical simulation skills. We don't know what will be the influence of "artificial intelligence" in the future, but my graduate students who have the most skills in computational and numerical simulation have done the best in the job market. If the student still want to stay in the academic area, it is also important that they be proficient in a wide range of physics areas.
