The Medical Practice Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Medical Practice Clinic(s) ensuring efficient and effective office operations; holding all staff accountable to a patient centered culture; and ensuring that organizational goals and objectives are met at the department level. Participates in budgeting, and growth and development efforts as required. This is a management position.

Required Skills

Knowledge of physician practice management methods and computerized systems preferred; knowledge of applicable clinic specialty preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; strong management skills with experience managing/motivating teams to high performance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively communicate to all members within the organization; excellent customer service skills with a strong focus on the patient experience.
Ability to work well independently as well as within teams.
Ability to analyze problems and follow through on solutions and maintain quality control standards; ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques.
Understanding of ICD-9 and CPT coding preferred.
Excellent time management skills, ability to work well under pressure and ability to effectively adapt to changes within the work environment.


Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in health care, business management or other related area preferred.
Master's degree in health care, business, public administration or related field preferred.
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience including 2 years progressively complex management experience overseeing operations in a healthcare setting preferred.
Lean training or process improvement training/certification preferred.

Job Description
Provide oversight for the professional practice evaluation process to include ongoing professional practice (OPPE) and focused professional practice (FPPE) for practitioners of El Camino Health, including physicians and advanced practice professionals (APP). Develops mechanisms to efficiently manage the professional practice evaluation process including workflows, procedures, and compliance expectations consistent with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) and TJC (The Joint Commission). Collaboration with various departments for development, building, and coordination of quality metrics utilized for OPPE. Tracking OPPE metrics for FPPE triggers and report preparation for medical staff committees' review. Tracks and assures all FPPE's are completed timely with supporting documentation as required. Represent medical staff services on assigned committees to include department specialty committees, Practitioner Excellence Committee, Credentials Committee and Medical Executive Committee. Routinely report out to medical staff leadership on changes and new developments. Provide OPPE/FPPE education to medical staff and advanced practice professionals, department Chairs, medical staff committees, medical staff office personnel, and others as needed. Collaborate with Medical Staff Data Analyst to ensure OPPE profiles and subgroups are kept up-to-date and accurate. Acts as part of the medical staff database support team. Subject matter expert regarding OPPE/FPPE.

QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Nursing or Health Administration. Masters degree in healthcare administration or equivalent preferred.Five (5) years inpatient hospital clinical experience Three (3) years experience managing an ongoing professional practice (OPPE) / focused professional practice (FPPE) program Extensive knowledge of CMS and TJC standards pertinent to medical staff policies and procedures, and other state regulatory rules and regulations Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and web-based programs. Data collection, analysis, and presentation skills.Flexible - manage many simultaneous projects autonomously and maintain strict confidentiality Detail oriented; well organized and able to prioritize duties Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and listening skills; ability to interact effectively with individuals on all levels including executive staff Ability to work well under pressure and with deadlines Fast learner and works well in team-based environment
License/Certification/Registration RequirementsCurrent RN licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing. preferred. Current certification as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) or Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPCSM) or willingness and/or ability to receive certification within 2 years of hire.
