Your Role
Coders
Perform accurate outpatient/professional and inpatient medical coding to address record backlogs across multiple specialties:
-Primary care
-General medical sub-specialties
-Surgical sub-specialties
-Ambulatory surgery
-Observation and endoscopy procedures
Validate 100% of assigned encounters and ensure documentation supports diagnoses and procedures.
Review provider documents for accuracy and completeness, clarifying or correcting coding as needed.
Query providers using email and VA systems (VistA Integration Revenue and Reporting-VIRR) for documentation clarification.
Collaborate with clinicians and claims staff regarding coding and billing issues.
Maintain an accuracy rate of 95% or higher for CPT/HCPCS, E&M, and ICD-10-CM coding, following VHA/VA standards and guidelines (CMS, AMA CPT, ICD-10-CM/PCS, HCPCS).
Complete record coding within 7 calendar days.
ROI Technicians
Process requests for release of protected health information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA, Privacy Act, and VA/VHA policies.
Review and validate all medical record release requests for accuracy and completeness.
Communicate with clinicians, requestors, and qualified providers to verify and complete requests.
Utilize VA electronic record systems, including VistA, CPRS, and eROI+.
Maintain strict confidentiality and security standards when processing records.
Ensure all releases meet required timelines (routine requests-20 business days or less).
What We're Looking For
U.S. citizenship and proficiency in English.
Coders: Minimum 3 years of continuous coding experience in a facility with a patient population comparable to VA.
ROI Technicians: At least 1 year of full-time experience handling release of information in a healthcare setting.
Must hold one or more of the following credentials:
-Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
-Certified Coding Specialist (CCS or CCS-P)
-Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
-Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
Expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS coding.
Familiarity with VA software (VistA, VIRR, CPRS, eROI+) and coding requirements.
Ability to pass VA security clearance and background check.

Serves as liaison between clinical and administrative teams to ensure alignment of scheduling practices.

Troubleshoots scheduling conflicts and delays in collaboration with clinical leadership teams.

Function as test proctor for other areas as needed within the academic and career technical training areas. Assist with other testing scheduling, coordination, and transportation, as necessary.
Maintain strict data integrity in compliance with PRH 3.1 and 3.2 and corporate procedures to ensure the fidelity of test results.
Work with Records Department to ensure all student testing records are scanned and filed electronically and physically in students' personnel records.
Ensure computers used for testing are regularly swept for unauthorized downloads and cleaned in collaboration with the IT area.
Create class schedules for all students in the Center Information System (CIS) in collaboration with counselors and management and update weekly or biweekly as needed.
Ensure student schedules allow for a full training day of required classes and meet the individual learning needs of respective students including in the areas of Career Preparation, Academics, Career Technical Training, Work-Based Learning, Advanced Career Training, and Career Transition Readiness.
Work with the Evening and Weekend Studies Coordinator to appropriately assign students to evening and weekend courses in CIS.
Maintain procedures for accepting schedule changes in consultation with center management and adjust students' schedules as necessary in advance of the effective week.
Update CIS as students complete courses and ensure the CIS course enrollment histories accurately reflect when students enroll, complete, or drop classes.
Prepare and distribute reports regarding class absences and assist students who have questions regarding absences, including clearing excused absences as appropriate.
Work closely with the Center Standards Office to administer rewards and sanctions for attendance and results as applicable to promote a positive culture and learning environment.
Provide positive, quality customer services to students and staff.
Maintain accountability of staff, students, and property and adhere to safety practices.
Participate in department meetings and all mandated PRH and Strategix training.
Promote a harassment-free environment.
Utilize information systems and handle student data in strict adherence to Job Corps and Strategix policies to protect student's personally identifiable information (PII) and reduce network security threats.
