The Medical Coder delivers quality care starts with ensuring our processes and documentation standards are being met and kept at the highest level possible. This means working behind the scenes ensuring a payer-centric approach to care. As a Medical Coder you will suggest and review claim information and procedure codes for all specialties and health services. Ensuring proper records is just one way your work will impact on the health and wellness of our members on a huge scale.
Schedule: A 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7 am to 7:00pm. The schedule will be determined by the supervisor upon hire.
Location: National remote

Primary Responsibilities:
Analyzes and codes claim information in a timely and accurate manner
Responsible for written explanations ensuring quality data and timely review

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
Certified Coder: CPC, COC, CCS or other applicable coding certification through the AAPC and/or AHIMA required. Will consider CPC -A. OR Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Physician-based (CCS-P) certification through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and/or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) through American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)

About this position

About this position
The Registration Specialist is among the first encounters a customer/family may experience at NMHC. Therefore, a commitment to service that ensures a remarkable customer and family experience is critical to overall success in the role. The registration process assures that customers are correctly identified and all necessary information is recorded. This includes, but not limited to customer identification credentials, demographic information, insurance information and collection of customer liabilities. The Registration Specialist may interact with customers/families of diverse backgrounds and in unusual and unexpected situations. Customer ages may include neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and geriatrics. Activities include direct interactions with the customer/families as well as staff/physicians in all of the areas where customers receive care. Much of the work is supported with computer technology, telecommunications technology, and other automated office support systems. Regulatory requirements, hospital policies and procedures, and applicable state and federal law provide the context in which Registration Specialists perform their duties.
Requirements
Education
• High school graduate or equivalent required; some college preferred.
• Must be 18 years of age or older to witness the signing of consent forms.
Experience
• One year scheduling and/or registration experience in a hospital, clinic or physician's office preferred.
• Previous patient scheduling, registration experience and/or data entry experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Ability to type 35 wpm with acceptable spelling capabilities.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and maintain composure in front of customers/visitors/staff.
• Demonstrated ability to transition from one area to another effectively
• Proficient in the English language.

The Clinic Patient Registration Specialist provides initial access for all clinic and Orthopedic Urgent Care patients including responsibility for greeting, registering, verifying medical and demographic information, scheduling follow up appointments, and notifying clinical team of patient arrival. This role also is responsible to provide general support and assistance to patients, teams and perform various administrative activities needed by our Revenue Cycle teams. Primary Duties:
Complete all aspects of Registration and Scheduling Standards efficiently and accurately to include register & schedule patients by collecting needed medical and demographic information; collect, apply and reconcile co-pays and payments; obtain and accurately enter Insurance information; follow all insurance and scheduling protocols to assure accurate and compliant billing; Coordinate interpreters and QRCs, as needed.
Prepare next day patient charts for teams; distribute couriered mail, postal mail and faxes
Communicate with teams/providers, as necessary, to provide a seamless and positive experience for the patient
Manage and coordinate patient pick up items including records and medical imaging CD's, while obtaining proper authorization and documentation.
Assist with rescheduling patients when providers schedules change
Responsible for ensuring the patient lobby is accessible, neat and orderly
Performs various administrative duties and other duties, as needed and assigned
Provide excellent customer service to all patients, teams, providers and staff by being attentive, respectful and helpful
Summit's hiring range for this position is $18.76 to $23.45 per hour. The hired candidate may be eligible to receive additional compensation in the form of bonuses, differentials and/or deferred compensation.
