Other duties as assigned Requirements: Must possess a minimum of one (3-6) years of experience in abstracting and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding of general acute hospital (inpatient and outpatient) and physician medical records by applying ICD-9/ICD-10 Coding Guidelines for inpatient and outpatient settings and related Official Coding Clinics. ICD9 proficiency required. Knowledge in anatomy and physiology, pathology of disease and medical terminology required. Ability to write appropriate correspondence and effectively communicate with other members of NS personnel, clients, and customers as necessary. Must be able to work independently with little or no supervision and use professional judgment as detailed in the AHIMA Code of Ethics. Passing score on a administered coder assessment must be achieved before further consideration. Required Skills Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or CCS (Certified Coding Specialist).
