  • Clinical Technician/CNA - Med/Surg - PRN

    Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care and clerical/administrative activities. In the execution of job duties, it is the universal expectation that all tasks are performed with a patient centered focus, while also seeking opportunities to continually improve core processes. Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need, which may include but is not limited to: holidays, extended shifts, night and/or weekend shifts, standby and/or on-call. This job description is only meant to be a representative summary of the major responsibilities and accountabilities performed by the incumbents of this job. Employees may be directed to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description. Reports to: Clinical Coordinator/Patient Care Coordinator/Patient Care Director Essential Functions Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs, possibly taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output. Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation. Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly. Attends to patients' needs promptly, answers call lights and requests without delay. Transfers, moves and repositions patients as assigned. Provides for safe transport of patients through the institution. Appropriate measures are taken to escort patients into and out of the facility. Appropriately obtains, stores, and labels specimens. Ensures safe delivery of specimens. Performs designated sterile and aseptic procedures using proper technique (i.e., venipuncture and phlebotomy, IV insertions, and foley insertions). Maintains sterile field while handling instruments during procedures. Performs a variety of administrative duties to support efficient operations including copying, faxing, and mail distribution. Maintains accurate and organized records, logs, and files as assigned. Answers telephone promptly and courteously, takes accurate and complete messages, forwards or answers inquiries as appropriate. Ensures supplies and equipment are available and in working condition, including instrument sterilization if applicable.
