Job Summary and Qualifications
Our Medical Lab Technologists are responsible for providing patients and physicians with accurate and timely results to aid them in diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Medical Lab Technologist performs tests and reports results of requested laboratory procedures.
What you will do in this role:
* You will perform all approved laboratory procedures in assigned areas of licensure, which may require a high degree of theoretical knowledge and technical expertise in licensed areas
* You will be empowered to exercise independent judgment under minimum to moderate degree of supervision.
* You will demonstrate skills in performing routine procedures, interpreting results and taking appropriate actions when necessary, organizing workload to achieve efficiency and report results in a timely manner according to patient needs.
* You will exercise judgment to determine the acceptability or rejection of results according to standards set for tests, and request assistance when needed from more experienced medicaltechnologists or technical manager.
* You will perform, record, and document corrective action when quality control results are not within defined limits and adhering to the established policies, procedures and CAP proficiency guidelines.
* You will follow best practice methodologies prescribed, demonstrating your skill and ability to following laboratory compliance policies and procedures.
* You will ensure that the proper operation for high-quality test performance is achieved by performing daily maintenance, while ensuring an awareness of supply stock and replenishing methods.
* You will practice infection control by careful hand washing and by wearing personal protective equipment, for the safety of patient and self, while maintaining a well-kept work area.
What qualifications you may need:
* Must be currently registered as a Medical Laboratory Scientist or MedicalTechnologist by ASCP

This position in Specimen Processing is responsible for knowing all of the functions of the SPT I, plus additional functions. This individual will have completed the necessary training consistent with local business unit practices for Specimen Processing and shows proficiency in the following areas: Test ordering policy, specimen requirements related to test ordering. We maintain a centralized animal care program with administrative management of 6 on-campus and 1 off-campus animal facilities. We report to the Vice President of Research, consult, and collaborate with the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee. The animal use program is accredited by AAALAC, a Registered Research Facility with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA No. 57-R-0002) and has an Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare Assurance number.
Job Summary
This position requires manual labor in the care and feeding of laboratory animals. Work involves caring for laboratory animals in accordance with specific directions given by a supervisor. Duties include feeding and watering animals, transferring animals from cages and cleaning the cages, rooms and adjacent areas as well as providing technical services for investigators and hands-on training for Animal Tech levels 1 through 3. Duties also include assembly line cage washing and clean cage preparation. Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed through observation of the animals and the cleanliness of cages, rooms, and adjacent areas. An expanded knowledge base and experience in a directly related field is required for this position.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities to include, but are not limited to:
Feed and water all animals according to specified standards. Routine cleaning and sanitization of feeding and water utensils and cages. Work in Cage wash as required. Observe the animals and report any abnormal findings. If an expired animal is found, proper identification and storage/disposal is required. Change bedding and caging periodically in accordance with Federal Regulations to ensure proper care of animals.
Disinfect animal areas at routine intervals. Notify Supervisor of any abnormalities in the physical environment of the animal facilities. Inspect and report any malfunctions of equipment such as thermostats, hygro-thermometers, lights, sanitation equipment, carts, etc.

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with two years of experience working in animal care; or High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization with Laboratory Animal Technician (LAT) certification with a minimum of one year of animal care experience.
