We want your knowledge and expertise! **Job Summary and Qualifications** Utilizes Licensed Medical Technician skills and training to perform test of samples of blood, urine and other body fluids to obtain information utilized in diagnosis and evaluation of a patient's medical situations. Performs laboratory tests and procedures, which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with supervision. **What you will do in this role:** + Based on skill levels, assistance in various departments is needed. + Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using both manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and any other disciplines as introduced into the laboratory + Reviews the accuracy of patient results prior to releasing or reporting. Does not report questionable test results, notify supervisor and if needed, has specimen recollected for all tests. + Performs testing on pending laboratory specimens, completes work as assigned, and reviews or resolves any pending tests to the next shift. + Performs proficiency testing as needed. + Calls and documents critical values within time limits established. + Maintains instruments, performs basic instrument troubleshooting, and calls vendor technical service promptly with more complicated problems. + Take the initiative to assist in other areas of the department when needed, based on technical ability. + Assists in performing venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups from newborn to geriatrics when needed. + Actively participates in the training and orientation of new employees. + Actively participates in the quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives of the department. + Reports result accurately in computers with less than 2 errors per year which require a corrected report.
