Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:

Consults across teams, provides mentorship, and contributes specialized knowledge.
Develop and maintain working knowledge of current products and services offered by the company.
Demonstrates various techniques and documentation to streamline production process.
Identifies team member strengths and opportunities and reports findings up to supervisors.
Assumes responsibility for resolving team member escalations by working with multiple business partners while consistent communication is present with the member.
Coach's others on how to navigate through systems to find information as needed.
Assists with training new employees and assists other team members with problems they encountered while interacting with other organizational members.
Performs ad hoc deep dive analyses for specific operations problems.
Trains and develops team members to ensure AdaptHealth policy and protocol is being followed.
Takes escalated phone calls that cannot be effectively resolved by team members.
Assists in conducting team meetings to educate on operational processes, day to day operations and re-training efforts that are required.
Develops and enhances processes and operations job aides and standard operating procedures.
Provides quality feedback to other AdaptHealth leadership.
Leads special projects or assignments and delegates responsibilities to others.
Assume on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company policy.
Retain knowledge of and consistently adhere to procedures for the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), infection control and hazardous materials handling.
Develops and maintains working knowledge of current HME products and services offered by the company.
Maintains patient confidentiality and functions within the guidelines of HIPAA.
Completes assigned compliance training and other educational programs as required.

Responsibilities Duties
Perform specialized and technically demanding tests that require concentrated and considerable time and experience; tests are either related to diagnostic purposes or are in conjunction with clinical research problems.
Implement new solutions to methodological problems, analyze test systems, and devise plan to achieve objectives after literature reviews, and contacts with colleagues in other hospitals.
Record results through a variety of data entry modes into laboratory information systems and retrieve information from electronic databases upon physician requests.
Instruct and train technical personnel and laboratory students in the theory, principles and practices of medical technology.
Respond appropriately to clinical emergencies. Recognizes emergent situations and notifies appropriate personnel.
Ensure compliance with all applicable accreditation agencies and regulatory requirements.

Basic Requirement for Clinical Laboratory Scientist:
A. A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics, AND successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
OR
B. At least a full 4-year course of study that included 12 months in a college or hospital-based medical technology program or medical technology school approved by a recognized accrediting organization. The professional medical technology curriculum may have consisted of a 1-year post- bachelor's certificate program or the last 1 or 2 years of a 4-year program of study culminating in a bachelor's in medical technology.
OR
C. A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from an accredited college/university that included 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of biological science (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) of chemistry (with one semester in organic or biochemistry), one semester (one quarter) of mathematics, AND five years of full time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, microbiology, Immunology and Urinalysis/Body Fluids. This combination of education and experience must have provided knowledge of the theories, principles, and practices of medical technology equivalent to that provided by the full 4-year course of study described in A or B above. All science and mathematics courses must have been acceptable for credit toward meeting the requirements for a science major at an accredited college or university. Acceptable experience is responsible professional or technician experience in a hospital laboratory, health agency, industrial medical laboratory, or pharmaceutical house; or teaching, test development, or medical research program experience that provided an understanding of the methods and techniques applied in performing professional clinical laboratory work. Certification/licensure as a medicaltechnologist (generalist) obtained through written examination by a nationally recognized credentialing agency or State licensing body is a good indication that the quality of experience is acceptable.
Evaluation of Education and Experience: The four major areas of clinical laboratory science are microbiology, clinical chemistry, hematology, and immunohematology (blood banking). Qualifying course work in these areas includes bacteriology, mycology, mycobacteriology, tissue culture, virology, parasitology, endocrinology, enzymology, toxicology, urinalysis, coagulation, hemostasis, cell morphology, immunology, serology, immunoserology, immuno-deficiency, hemolysis, histocompatibility, cyto-genetics, and similar disciplines or areas of laboratory practice.
Related fields include physiology, anatomy, molecular biology, cell biology, embryology, pathology, genetics, pharmacology, histology, cytology, nuclear medicine, epidemiology, biostatistics, infection control, physics, statistics, and similar areas of science where the work is directly related to the position to be filled.
Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0644 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
AND
Certification Requirement: Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American MedicalTechnologist (AMT) or other board or registry deemed comparable by Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (OASD(HA)) or their designee as a MedicalTechnologist (MT), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) is required. (Copy of certification must be submitted with application package.)
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing complex testing; conducting quality control procedures; and interpreting laboratory results. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

The Molecular Technician II's primary responsibility is to assist analytical and post-analytical processes associated with specimen processing and test performance under the supervision and control of licensed individuals in the clinical laboratory. The Molecular Technician II functions as a laboratory support team member. The main duties and responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:
Multi-task efficiently, maintain flexibility, and work as a team player to process samples according to multiple workflows and maintain established turnaround times
Capable of identifying specimen processing problems that may adversely affect the reporting of test results and immediately notify the supervisor

Performs and reports laboratory testing on clinical laboratory samples used to aide physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Selects, implements, and evaluates results for Quality Control materials used in statistical process control of laboratory assays.
Troubleshoots assays and equipment for which QC materials fail to perform adequately.
Participates in activities required to support all necessary licensure for the clinical laboratory, including quality management functions and on-site inspections of the 100% laboratory.
Responsible for maintaining updated understanding and knowledge of the methods employed in the laboratory and the use of the resulting information by physicians through continuing education activities.

· Each individual performs only those high complexity tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
· Each individual performing high complexity testing must-
· Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results;
· Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens;
· Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed;
· Follow the laboratory's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance;
· Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director;
· Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
· Current California CGMBS license preferred. CLS license acceptable.
· 1 year experience in a clinical laboratory setting; preferably with experience in a high complexity molecular testing environment. Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) and/or array genotyping experience is highly desirable.
· Ability to read, understand, and comply with detailed procedures that ensure the safety of all
· Must be flexible to work different shifts, such as Saturdays and evenings
· Demonstrated ability to work both independently, following detailed work instructions, and as part of a cohesive team that together completes daily sample intake and processing in a timely manner

POSITION DUTIES:
Perform clinical laboratory tests in any one or a combination of areas as described in following sections of the laboratory: hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, microbiology and blood bank.
Calculate test results and measure prescribed quantities of samples during tests.
