Responsibilities: Under general supervision of the Ambulatory Pharmacy Services Manager &/or Clinic Manager and with the oversight of on-site Clinic Physician(s) and pharmacists in designated clinics, the Clinic Medication Technician responsibilities may include: processing electronic, fax and phone medication refill requests in compliance with Legacy Protocols; ordering clinic medications and vaccines; managing the Medication room by checking expiration dates, maintaining the emergency kit and other specialty kits; and Medication Prior Authorization Processing. The Technician will provide clerical and office support that requires administrative skills and knowledge of medications gained from certification/licensure as a Pharmacy Technician. Responsibilities include obtaining medication histories from patients, contacting pharmacies to clarify medication information and entering medication data into the electronic health record and facilitating compliance with the medication reconciliation process in the ambulatory clinic setting. Technicians may also help in coordination of patient interactions with clinic pharmacists. Work is generally performed independently requiring judgment and problem-solving skills. Qualifications: EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Current Pharmacy Technician program graduate. EXPERIENCE: Prior pharmacy tech/clerk experience or current pharmacy tech student or program graduate preferred. Experience in ambulatory setting preferred. SKILLS: Advanced skill with appropriate computer systems and software packages. Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures. Time management and organizational skills. Ability to withstand varying job pressures and effectively prioritize related tasks. Demonstrated interpersonal and effective communication skills that promote cooperation and teamwork. The incumbent also instructs students, resolves or refers clinical questions regarding transfusion, monitors and maintains testing and blood product storage equipment, prepares blood components, chooses appropriate blood products for patient transfusions and ensures that hospitals and clinics are aware that products are available when the necessary lab work/processing are completed. The person in this position is authorized to perform testing in Transfusion Services. Specimen processing, test performance and result reporting is performed independently, and after appropriate training. This position is M-F 11pm - 7am Job Summary Responsible for receiving, processing, and distributing clinical laboratory specimens. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions: * Receive, label, and distribute clinical laboratory specimens including blood, urine, and tissue samples. * Process specimens by verifying patient information, accessioning samples into the laboratory information system, and preparing samples for testing. * Monitor and maintain inventory of laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment. * Follow established procedures and protocols for specimen handling, storage, and disposal. * Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the laboratory area. * Adhere to safety and quality standards including use of personal protective equipment, proper disposal of hazardous materials, and adherence to laboratory accreditation requirements. * Collaborate with laboratory staff and healthcare providers to ensure timely and accurate specimen processing. * Perform other related duties as assigned by laboratory management.
