Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care. This position requires technical expertise in cardiovascular procedures, critical thinking skills, and the ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.
Essential Work Functions:
Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures
Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring proper functionality
Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and procedural protocols
Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices as directed
Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs
Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters
Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements
Adhere to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards
Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of practice

Job Title: Medical Lab Scientist/Technical Lab
Location: Irving, TX 75063
Core Hours: Tuesday- Saturday, 12pm- 8:30 pm (Central)
Pay range: $35-$40 per hour

Key Responsibilities:
Follow lab protocols for specimen handling, processing, testing, and reporting results.
Ensure proficiency testing samples are handled like patient specimens.

Comply with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety standards.
Document all quality control activities, including calibrations and maintenance.

Required Knowledge: A solid understanding of basic laboratory testing is required for this position. The successful candidate must possess good computer skills and be able to adapt to working in multiple computer systems. Must know about QC and QA, as well as know all areas of the laboratory.
Qualifications:
BS in Medical Technology, or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology. Alternatively, previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 (published on March 14, 1990).
Experience:
At least one year of clinical experience in high complexity testing is preferred. A minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience is required for candidates with a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.
Additional Information:
The role requires the ability to follow detailed procedures and ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
Attendance at monthly department training and safety sessions is required.

Major clinical testing company seeks Medical Laboratory Scientists that have a solid understanding of basic laboratory testing. The successful candidate must possess good computer skills and be able to adapt to working in multiple computer systems. Must have knowledge of QC and QA as well as knowledge of all areas of the laboratory. Shift - Tuesday - Saturday 1:00 PM to 9:30 PM
Responsibilities:
Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test result;
Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens;
Analyze specimens using approved testing procedures (see department SOPs).
Review and release test results.
Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines as described in their respective guidelines.
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and all maintenance performed;
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications
Maintain complete records of all testing performed on-site.
Maintain general appearance of the department.
Make sure reagents/test kits have received dates, expiration dates, and if applicable opened dates.
Education:
BS in Medical Technology preferred; or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology, or Associates degree in a Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493. 1433 published in March 14, 1990.
Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation).
United States educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript.
A successful candidate should possess or be eligible for national certification as an MT / MLT from a recognized organization (ASCP or AMT).
Work Experience:
1 year Clinical experience (high complexity testing) preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in highly complex testing for those with BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology.
National and State licensure as required.
Special Requirements:
Must have the ability to establish work priorities and handle several procedures simultaneously.
Must interact with other departments.
Contact with clients may be required, good customer service skills are important.
Must protect patient confidentiality at all times.
