Under the direction of the RN Supervisor or Site Manager, the Medical Tech supports the patient by actively participating in the interdisciplinary care team and assists providers in the delivery of primary care services. This is a full-time, or part-time, benefit-eligible position typically working Monday through Friday 8am - 5pm, an occasional evening until 7/8p, and an occasional Saturday 9:00a-12p (two Saturday's per year) . Schedules may be subject to change. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete chart preparation for each patient, including reviewing the population health management system (i.e., Care Sentry), reviewing incomplete orders and referrals, and gathering other required information. Manage clinic flow. Greet patients, determine needs, and direct patients to the examining room. Follow rooming procedures including asking about recent ER/hospital visits, taking vital signs, and completing screening tests as identified in the chart preparation. Obtain lab specimens, perform tests, and document results. Prepare specimens for transportation, complete necessary forms, and arrange for transportation. Carry out routine testing procedures (e.g., hearing and vision screening). File patient information and assist with medical records responsibilities. Manage telephone inquiries appropriately and carry out patient “call backs” as assigned. Assist nurses and providers with incoming patient healthcare information. Stay informed of all pertinent federal, state, and Cherry Health regulations, laws, and policies and ensure that services align with these. Interact with co-workers, staff of other affiliates, patients, members, and visitors in a positive and professional manner and communicate effectively and respectfully. Ability to travel between sites is required. Perform all other duties as assigned. SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE / ABILITIES: Basic Life Support/CPR training Ability to maintain professional conduct with medical clinicians, patients, peers, families, and the community Ability to perform routine healthcare tasks, enter data, and run reports in the EHR Ability to deal sensitively with patients undergoing treatment in stressful situations Ability to follow directions and work effectively with professional and paraprofessional staff Ability to follow established systems to ensure timely patient flow Basic computer proficiency, including EHR experience and Microsoft Office suite. Frequent telephone and computer use, requiring manual dexterity for writing and computer use. Sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. May require bending, squatting, or kneeling and lifting up to 50 pounds.
