Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process. **Job Description** 1 In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assists qualified donors in completing the screening process. The screening procedures includes but are not limited to: assessing the self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions associated with the donation process, referring donors to medical staff when appropriate and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature. Performs finger stick to obtain sample to obtain donor's hematocrit and total protein levels. 2 Upon completion of the appropriate training, may educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma. The Practicum Education Coordinator (PEC) reports to the Northwest Florida State College, Dean of Health Sciences & Public Safety and the MLT Program Director for the training of students in the skills required for entry into, upgrading or retraining in Medical Laboratory Technology occupations. The PEC works with other faculty and administrators in the planning, implementing, and updating of the program and program materials and develops and maintains clinical affiliation agreements, declarations of intent, clinical site fact sheets, logs and records, and other documentation pertaining to the program's clinical education curriculum and activities. This position also has the responsibility of finding beneficial learning opportunities for students in clinical education settings, assessing clinical instruction and clinical instructor effectiveness, and coordinating clinical education development activities, as linked with the program's assessment process.
