Position Summary
The Neurodiagnostic Technologist II performs complex diagnostic studies of the central and peripheral nervous systems in compliance with federal and state regulations, The Joint Commission (TJC), NAEC, ABRET, AANEM, and industry best practices.
You'll apply advanced technical expertise, critical thinking, and clinical judgment to ensure high-quality testing, accurate data collection, and optimal patient outcomes across all Renown Health facilities.
What You'll Do
Perform a wide range of neurodiagnostic procedures including EEGs, long-term monitoring (LTM), continuous video EEG (CVEEG), ambulatory EEGs (24-72 hour), evoked potentials, and NCS/EMGs.
Prepare patients through proper electrode application, clinical assessment, and collection of technical history to support accurate physician interpretation.
Monitor patients during procedures, recognize significant findings, and ensure patient safety and comfort throughout testing.
Review and analyze recordings for accuracy, completeness, and technical quality in accordance with ABRET accreditation standards and departmental policies.
Reformat, reduce, and extract diagnostic data for physician review and archival purposes.
Independently perform studies and adapt protocols based on patient tolerance, clinical indication, and physician orders.
Participate in training, mentoring, and education of students, allied health professionals, and physicians.
Support departmental accreditation activities and maintain required continuing education and certifications.
Assist in evaluating new technologies and instrumentation related to neurodiagnostic services.
What You Bring
Education/Registry:
ABRET (R.EEG.T), AAET (R.NCS.T), or ABEM (CNCT) certification required.
Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of recent, high-level neurodiagnostic experience (3 years preferred).
Certifications:
Current BLS (AHA) required.
Skills:
Strong technical expertise, attention to detail, patient-centered communication, and the ability to work autonomously.
Technologists without ABRET EEG registry may perform all neurodiagnostic studies except ECI (brain death) exams, per departmental policy.

Job Description: Provides direct patient care to adult patient populations. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the procedural/interventional environment. This position communicates effectively with the physician and team members about patient condition. Assesses procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness. Significant errors or deviation from established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are reported within the Clinical Laboratory through the Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) process or through the Tahoe Forest Health System “RLDatix” risk management system
Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results, analyzes Quality Control (QC) data, makes judgments concerning the results, and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
Recognizes abnormal test results and answers inquiries about them, the methodology, specificity, and sensitivity; answers questions about specific factors that can influence test results.
Operates and maintains instrument/equipment, recognizes equipment malfunction, troubleshoots and repairs as necessary. Notifies clinical departments in a timely manner when equipment/instruments are down and testing may be delayed. Takes appropriate actions to activate backup activities when appropriate to ensure safe patient care.
When confronted with operational issues, acts as the “Medicare Supervisor”/ ”General Supervisor” per CLIA-88 regulations in the absence of laboratory management staff. “TFHS CLS/”Medicare Supervisor” Responsibilities available in department.

Helps evaluate new techniques and procedures in terms of space and personnel requirements, method comparison, cost analysis, and the establishment of reference intervals; writes, revises and/or reviews technical procedures.
Some support tasks will be required at times to ensure effective laboratory operations including but not limited to telephone attendance, clerical duties, inventory management, customer service activities, specimen collection, sample handling and special procedures. Training and mentoring new personnel may be assigned.
Scheduling of hours may be changed as necessary to meet the needs of laboratory operations. The ability to work standby and take call back is required to cover situations when no staff is routinely scheduled or schedule is vacant.
