ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Performs, assists and accountable for various clinical laboratory test procedures and ensures proper maintenance and operation of instrumentation. * Exercises professional judgment in the performance of laboratory procedures. * Provides patient care essential to laboratory procedures. * Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and reports to provider. * Performs other duties as assigned. LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS * Certification as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist/MedicalTechnologist in all disciplines by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP). * CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire for identified job roles. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS * Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or equivalent. * Six to twelve months of laboratory training/job experience necessary in order to become familiar with a variety of laboratory testing procedures. * Knowledge and experience preforming phlebotomy required. * Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate effectively with physicians, nursing personnel and other clinicians relative to patient testing and information gathering. * Ability to resolve technical problems using standard guides and procedures. * Analytical skills necessary in order to perform and interpret routine tests and recognize abnormal/critical test results. * Must be able to determine the appropriate course of action for abnormal, atypical or critical test results. * Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and other Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) software preferred. * Ability to travel. WORKING CONDITIONS Laboratory service areas have work environments with frequent exposure to physical discomforts due to unpleasant odors from specimens and chemicals. Frequent exposure to infectious agents when handling hazardous material, but potential for personal harm or injury is reduced when proper safety and health precautions are followed. The Histotechnician will assist in processing tissue for the surgical specimens for interpretation by the physician (Mohs surgeon).

In conjunction with the physician (Mohs surgeon), the Histotechnician implement and monitor policies and procedures for compliance with OSHA and CLIA standards.

Process all tissues, including proper cutting, staining, cover slipping, and labeling.
Clean and sterilize instruments daily.
Maintain laboratory equipment in proper working order to ensure consistent, high-quality function.
Package, sterilize and distribute linens to procedure rooms.
Responsible for morning laboratory setup.
Assist with maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies; unpacking and storage of supplies.
Maintain all laboratory and surgical logs including monthly and annual reports.
Improve laboratory efficiencies by detecting and communicating technical and logistical problems to laboratory management for resolution.
Maintain statistics of patients referred for diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and provide monthly reports.
Maintain inventory of all slides.
Maintain equipment maintenance procedure logs and all Mohs specimen logs.

SUMMARY:
Purpose of the Job: Provide the highest quality support, care, and supervision for our senior residents by administering medications in accordance with each resident's individual care plan and state regulations in addition to, providing direct personal assistance and supervision.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
1. Consistent and predictable attendance.
2. Dispense prescribed medications to residents according to doctors' written orders. Document properly.
3. Provide direct personal assistance and supervision needed by assisted living and memory care residents with their bathing, dressing, eating, walking, going up and down steps, smoking, and attending to any personal needs the residents may be unable to attend to themselves. Encourage and assist residents to care for their grooming, clothing, and toilet articles, including care of the body, hair, gums, teeth, dentures, fingernails, clothing, and personal items.
4. Document daily including, but not limited to, medication administration, nursing notes, communication with healthcare providers and family members/responsible parties.
5. Handle non-routine housekeeping tasks including, but not limited to, wiping up spills, doing laundry, emptying trash cans, changing sheets or assisting a resident in making their bed.
6. Respond immediately in case of an accident or incident involving a resident. Document incident.
7. Attend training as required as well as complete all Relias training as scheduled.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Information Required for Completely Satisfactory Performance:
* Knowledge of principles or processes for providing resident and personal care services.
* Knowledge of the 5 rights of medication administration--The Right: Drug, Dose, Route, Patient, Time.
* Ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong with a resident.
* Ability to listen to and comprehend information and ideas presented from residents and family members.
* Ability to communicate ideas and information to residents and family members.
Education and Licenses: Requires the ability to use fractions, decimals, and commercial arithmetic. Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation is required. Equivalent to a 4-year U.S. high school education. Successful completion of all state-required courses and exams. Valid Medication Aide license except if working on provisional pending taking the state boards. Must have and maintain CPR and first aid certifications.
Experience: 0-3 months as a nursing assistant, home health aide, or eldercare volunteer.

Position Overview
* Processes patient laboratory specimens efficiently and accurately including specimen receipt and accessioning in laboratory information system or manually alternative process. Identify and handle processing of STAT and urgent samples expediently. Inspects specimens for correct labeling, patient identification, and specimen integrity. Prepares specimens for analysis and distributes to appropriate testing locations including cross campus tracking and shipping.
* Manages reference laboratory send out and resulting procedures in laboratory information system. Understands collection requirements for special and referral testing. Follows correct ordering, aloquoting, labeling, storage temperature and shipping requirements to ensure sample integrity and adequacy. Prepares manifests, tracks and dispatches samples. Monitors TAT and results posted for reference lab tests and distributes reports with appropriate clinical alerts and notification..
* Assists in support staff training of other employees and students. .
* Performs clerical duties include input of test orders, generating labels, retrieving patient information, triaging multiple phone lines, report distribution, result query, results reporting. Organizes and maintains accurately necessary quality control records.
* Performs assigned patient processing activities in the outpatient/ non-patient area including managing patient reception area, sign in, translating MD orders into the LIS, report distribution, collecting insurance and identification information from patients.
* Manages supply inventory by monitoring par levels, placing orders in the electronic inventory system, receiving and distributing inventory and storage. Advises the supervisor of supply/equipment needs
