Accurately manage and administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders, policies, and regulations.
Document medication administration, effectiveness, and any side effects per established procedures.
Protect residents' rights and ensure confidentiality during all aspects of medication delivery.
Transcribe new or changed orders into the electronic health record MAR within scope of practice.
Maintain secure storage and accountability for all medications, including controlled substances.
Ensure appropriate and timely reporting of any change in condition to nursing staff.
Communicate effectively with other licensed staff, physicians, other disciplines, families and administrative staff regarding resident status, medication refusals and/or changes in resident condition.
Order all new and renewal medications, including those needed for treatment(s).
Upon discharge or expiration of resident, ensure all scheduled and controlled substances, open liquids, and injectables are collected and disposed of as prescribed by law.
Maintain a clean work environment, especially as it relates to medication rooms and carts.
Follow all safety, infection control, and emergency procedures, including proper PPE use and participation in drills.
Assist with information gathering and documentation for incidents.
Follow all infection control policies and procedures.
Perform CNA job duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.

Our evening shift crew handles a very diverse population, including oncology patients from the Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center, transplant patients, patients who need complicated cardiac care, and patients who need mechanical circulatory services. We see interesting results with these patients in both coagulation and in hematology. We also receive samples from multiple community clinics, so we see normal patient samples as well. Additionally, we conduct many body fluid cell counts and differentials.
In partnership with the University of Washington, we train MLS students during their clinical rotations as well as residents who will eventually run their own labs. Not only do we enjoy training others, but we also engage in continuing education opportunities to maintain our MLS certifications through MediaLab, MedTraining Services, and DLMP Grand Rounds and Research Rounds.

_On the General Bench_

+ Perform ESRs using the Excyte 20.

+ Perform maintenance procedures daily, weekly and monthly on Hematology instruments in accordance with SOPs.

+ Perform testing on proficiency testing materials when asked by the Hematology MLS Lead or by one of the MLS2s in accordance with departmental SOPs.

The Clinical Lab Technologist position will be responsible for processing medically relevant biological samples through extraction and/or high throughput next-generation DNA sequencing assays. POSITION DUTIES:
Perform clinical laboratory tests in any one or a combination of areas as described in following sections of the laboratory: hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, serology, microbiology and blood bank.
Calculate test results and measure prescribed quantities of samples during tests.
Notice pertinent details of specimens under microscopic study.
Perform a wide variety of laboratory tests either manually or using automated instrumentation.

The Medical Lab Technician is responsible for independently performing and reporting all test analyses according to physician orders in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures, FDA, CAP, OSHA, CLIA and JCAHO regulations to facilitate optimum quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
Performs all laboratory tests accurately and in a timely fashion following established guidelines and physician orders
Reports all tests in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner in compliance with documented laboratory procedures
Ensures compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations
Follows QC/QA policies and procedures
Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results and takes appropriate action according to predetermined protocols
Performs quality control for all testing and meets established ranges before patient results are released
Determines acceptability of specimens by performing visual inspections or by recognizing abnormal/ unusual results
Uses time efficiently to complete workload independently and within the prescribed time limit
Maintains a safe and efficient working environment by performing equipment maintenance and checks
Recognizes and troubleshoots malfunctions of advanced technological equipment and initiates corrective action
Knowledge of Hazardous Communication and Chemical Hygiene Plan
Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent
Medical Laboratory Technician degree required
ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist
Current CPR/BLS certification
Previous experience as a Medical Lab Technician preferred
Previous phlebotomy experience preferred

Compensation and Benefits
Employees (and their families) who work full time (defined as working 30 or more hours per week) will be eligible for medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, accidental death and dismemberment, and basic life insurance.

Terms of Employment
