Your Job: The Cardiovascular Tech RCIS primary responsibility is to assist with technical aspects of invasive cardiovascular procedures under the direction of the supervisor and physician. Your Job Requirements: • Associate or Bachelor's degree, science emphasis or commensurate healthcare experience • Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred) • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardio Life Support certification • RCIS certified within six months of date of hire • ARRT and TX RT(R) required in lieu of RCIS Your Job Responsibilities: • Assists in teaching and orientation of students and new staff. • Assists physician as a monitor tech during any procedure performed in the cath lab by interpreting basic and advanced dysrhythmia and EKG's and operating physiologic recorder, and interpreting normal and abnormal pressures and wave forms. • Assists physician with most procedures as a scrub tech and operates imaging equipment under direction of physician. • Assists physician with some diagnostic procedures as a circulator by monitoring patient status during a procedure, handing supplies to the scrub tech, and operating imaging equipment under the direction of the physician. • Assists with transport of patient to and from department. • Cleans and stocks cath lab. • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and dosages used. • Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of procedures. • Orders supplies for cath lab and demonstrates effective inventory control. • Post procedure safety removes arterial and/or venous sheath, maintains hemostasis, and monitors patient status. • Prepares lab for procedure by setting up for procedure and maintaining sterile technique. • Prepares patient for procedure by shaving and prepping patient and marking arterial pulses. • Troubleshoots equipment problems. Ensure reagents/test kits are labeled with received, expiration, and opened dates. Required Knowledge: A solid understanding of basic laboratory testing is required for this position. The successful candidate must possess good computer skills and be able to adapt to working in multiple computer systems. Must know about QC and QA, as well as know all areas of the laboratory. Qualifications: BS in Medical Technology, or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology. Alternatively, previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 (published on March 14, 1990). Experience: At least one year of clinical experience in high complexity testing is preferred. A minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience is required for candidates with a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology. •Assist with laboratory testing to help diagnose various pet and other animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases; process specimens; help with a variety of laboratory tasks • Assist with lab inventory, procuring supplies, and stocking shelves. *Assist with moving samples around the lab, loading analyzers, and general lab maintenance and cleanliness • Support and maintain various processes, systems, and databases. • Perform recordkeeping ad data collection • Perform administrative duties such as answering phones and preparing parcel deliveries, files requisitions, and performs duties in support of billing, pricing, and sample transportation. What You Need to Succeed: • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), material safety data sheets (MSDSs), operating and maintenance instructions, government rules and technical procedures. • Ability to prioritize and multi-task • Strong initiative and follow through • Attention to detail • Ability to work independently and as a team contributor • Must demonstrate a high level of customer service • Good computer skills: Microsoft Office and SAP preferred • You meet the physical requirements that go with working as a Lab Associate - May transport hazardous waste within the facility and may occasionally lift and move up to 25 pounds.
