Any alert or panic values are communicated verbally to the nurse or physician immediately. • The Medical/Laboratory Assistant (MA) is responsible for managing laboratory supplies, including collection containers, requisition forms, and testing materials. They perform routine maintenance on hematology instruments as outlined in the instrument's manual and address any deviations needing technical assistance. The MA ensures all quality assurance (QA) and proficiency testing (PT) standards are met according to practice policies, as detailed in the Laboratory Policy and Procedure Manual. This per diem role involves traveling to patient residences to perform clinical services such as, but not limited to, phlebotomy, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and macular edema screenings in support of treatment initiation and adherence strategies. This is a per diem, travel-based role offering flexible hours, with no minimum monthly visit requirement. Referrals are assigned based on your geographic availability and program demand. IQVIA manages all scheduling and patient communication, allowing you to focus entirely on clinical care. If located in the state of Washington or Louisiana, a state issued CMA or CPT license is required. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to transport medical or diagnostic equipment (e.g., eye exam kits). Patient services are the key priority in this position, requiring the Referral Clerk to serve as a point of contact with internal and external departments. Primary Responsibilities 1. Works independently and collaboratively as part of a team to ensure the timely processing of patient referrals in accordance with level of priority based on provider's notes in patient's medical record. This includes making linkages between patients and service providers in an acceptable timeframe to ensure continuity of care. 2. In a detail-oriented manner, assists providers in filling out proper documentation for referrals/authorization as required by service provider(s). Ensures the timely faxing, sending, calling and confirming of referrals. 3. Assist patients in scheduling initial appointments. Completes necessary forms and assists patients in navigating through the paperwork and processes involved with making a successful referral. 4. Utilizing diplomacy and tact, assists patients in troubleshooting connections with external service providers in order to remove barriers to services, whether real or virtual.
