    As a Medical Assistant at PHC you will support the delivery of healthcare by providing clinical care and administrative support as delegated by licensed clinical staff. You will work in accordance with standard and scope established by PHC policies and procedures and will performs work with special consideration for patient safety and infection control policies and procedures. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to welcome patients to a safe and inclusive environment and to engage patients in holistic care. This position typically works at PHC Marshalltown Clinic and may be 32 - 40 hours per week with the schedule to be determined. Clinic hours are Monday - Thursday 8 AM - 8 PM, Friday 8 AM - 5 PM, and Saturday 9 AM - 1 PM. This position will participate in the Saturday rotation working once approximately every other month. Our Medical Assistants are occasionally needed to cover other shifts or to work at other PHC clinics in Ames, Des Moines, and Marshalltown. Mileage reimbursement and/or an out of town travel bonus may apply. What You Will Do * Collaborates with assigned Patient Care Team and others to provide needed healthcare to patients in a clinic setting. Performs assigned workflows efficiently and effectively. * Prepares for exam/procedure and assists provider as requested. Qualifications You Need Required * High school diploma or equivalent. * One year of experience in a medical assistant, patient care technician, certified nurse assistant, phlebotomy, or related clinical position or completion of medical assisting program from an accredited institution. * Excellent customer service skills. * Effective verbal and written communication skills. * Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills with ability for a team approach to care plus develop and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of individuals. * Organization and priority skills with detail orientation. * Professional skills with ability to remain composed in all situations and show empathy. * Basic computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft Office applications and electronic health record system. * Effective problem-solving skills. * Licenses & Certifications: Current Basic Life Support for HealthCare Providers*; current Mandatory Reporter approved for the State of Iowa*. * Must be obtained with Introductory Period if not current.
