What does an MA at PACE North do?
The MA is a key part of our PACE North Clinic team!
You'll handle all the coordination at our front desk, including answering the phone, greeting visitors, scheduling appointments, and answering general questions.
This role is also responsible for care such as checking on participant conditions, gathering vitals, and/or administering medications and treatments under the supervision of our RN team!
You're also responsible for preparing and cleaning exam rooms and transporting participants from their social areas to the Clinic within our Center.
Finally, you'll be able to provide PACE North participants with the most cheerful and professional service they've ever received!

About the Program:
The selected apprentice will receive paid on the job training as a Medical Assistant at a Munson Healthcare facility while completing online education through Penn Fosters 12-month Medical Assistant course. At the completion of the program apprentices will have the opportunity to complete the AAMA certification exam to become a Certified Medical Assistant.
In collaboration with Michigan Works!, Munson Healthcare will be covering the cost of the tuition in exchange for a service commitment at the completion of the program.
What is a Medical Assistant?
A Medical Assistant is an allied health professional who supports Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers in a clinic setting. The role includes both clinical and administrative duties and frequent interaction with patients and their families.
Administrative Duties may include:
* Answering phones

* Documenting and updating medical records
* Coding and filling out insurance forms
* Scheduling appointments

Summary: This position is responsible to verify patient information, assisting the clinic medical staff but primarily for supporting patient visits. Recording Medical Histories: Gathering patient information about their past and present medical conditions
Preparing Patients for Examination: Helping patients get ready for provider's visits.
Assisting with Examinations and Procedures: Providing support to providers during examinations, such as handing them instruments or positioning patients.
Administering Medications: Under the direction of a licensed provider, CMAs may administer medications via injections.
Performing Basic Laboratory Tests: Perform EKGs and Point of Care labs.
Wound Care: Assisting with wound care, including dressing changes and suture removal.
Administrative Duties and Responsibilities
Schedules patient appointments; verifies appointments prior to service date, schedules referral appointments, including diagnostic testing, and coordinates patient's records with outside providers.
Answers and logs incoming telephone calls for the Clinic Psychologist, directs calls to appropriate clinic personnel or takes detailed messages and delivers to personnel; and
Assists with triage of incoming calls for acuity of concern and priority appointments.
Prepare and update client charts 24 hours prior to daily schedule, maintain information according to chart format, and file charts after final disposition of service. Performs all related patient data entry as directed in the RPMS system. Assists with bi-annual clinic eligibility audit.
Maintains supplies, inventory records of incoming supplies, prescribed medication samples, and items provided to patients under the direction of providers.
Perform all duties in support of Clinic Providers as needed.
Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments.
Obtain Prior Authorizations from insurance companies for testing and medications.
Facilitates the dissemination of information regarding department programs and assists with client health education as needed.
Maintains professionalism and confidentiality in all aspects of work and complies with all applicable tribal, federal, or state laws and procedures.
All other position related duties as assigned by supervisor and/or Health Services Director
