RESPONSIBILITIES
Hospital Corpsmen (HM) assist health care professionals in providing medical care to Navy personnel and their families. They may function as clinical or specialty technicians, medical administrative personnel and healthcare providers at medical treatment facilities. Specifically, Hospital Corpsmen may be called upon to:
Perform emergency medical treatment on SEALs, Seabees, Marines and other military personnel injured in the field, as well as on Sailors aboard ships or aircraft
Perform emergency dental treatment as well as construct dental crowns and bridges, process
dental X-rays and operate X-ray equipment
Serve as an operating room technician for general and specialized surgery
Help administer a wide range of preventive care and medications, including immunizations and intravenous fluids
Conduct physical examinations and assisting in the treatment of diseases and injuries
Maintain patient treatment records, conduct research and perform clinical tests
Assist Navy Physicians and Nurses in a variety of medical fields, including, but not limited to: radiology, physical therapy, phlebotomy, dental, surgery, family medicine, pathology, womens health and more

Position Overview - (full-time/40 hours)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain general appearance, cleanliness, inventory, and organization of clinical areas.
Prepare and replenish supplies. Maintain inventory and expiration dates.
Prepare patients for examination.
Take patient histories, height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, oxygenation levels and pulse.
Prepare and administer patient medication under provider's supervision.
Assist in collection of specimens and completion of laboratory tests.
Receive and organize medication samples. Ensuring medication expiration check is conducted monthly.
Properly dispose of contaminated and disposable items.
Assists in the proper scheduling and registration of patients, and the maintenance of patient medical records.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.
Observe patient care while receiving treatment such as TMS therapy or
SPRAVATO
Communicate medical treatment, pharmaceutical, and related information to patients and respective health care providers and pharmacies as directed by providers.

Candidate Qualifications and Experience
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Medical Assistant Certificate preferred.
Knowledge of state and federal regulations, policies, and procedures governing accounting, medical billing, and financial recordkeeping.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Products; knowledge and ability to operate various office equipment

POSITION SUMMARY

4. Provides clerical support with patient/client notifications and documentation which includes but is not limited to complete medical records such as labs, authorizations, X-Rays, hospital records and any previous care pertaining to each patient visit. Provides complete and accurate information necessary for billing related to the patient encounter in a timely fashion.
5. Maintains a clean, functional environment including cleaning and disinfection of equipment, exam rooms and storage areas. Disinfects equipment and instruments using appropriate solutions following sterilization procedures. Follows manufacturer's recommendations and OSHA guidelines in handling of hazardous substances. Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates needed maintenance for prompt repairs.
6. Orders medical supplies and stocks patient care areas. Monitors inventory including medication/injectables and immunizations (e.g. expired medications/equipment and recalls).
7. Develops and maintains effective communication mechanism with all external and internal customers. Exemplifies service orientation and the team concept in all contacts.
Performs all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Serves as role models for staff and act in a people-centered, service excellence-focused, and results-oriented manner. Provides all customers of Idaho Hand Institute with an excellent service experience.
