The Transcriptionist is responsible for transcribing dictations and written letters, examinee assessments and reports, or other recorded data according to established policies and procedures. The position maintains control lists of work performed indicting reports transcribed.
The schedule is Monday to Friday 10:30am to 7pm EST
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Utilize dictation equipment, computer, and/or word processor to transcribe letters, medical/legal reports, or other projects assigned in a timely and accurate manner.
Maintain a current list of reports transcribed on a daily basis.
Prioritize work according to importance of report or physician needs.
Recognize, interpret, and evaluate inconsistencies and discrepancies in medical dictation and appropriately edit, revise and clarify them without altering the meaning of the dictation or changing the dictator's style.
Recognize and report any problems, errors and discrepancies in dictation and/or examinee records that cannot be easily corrected to management for review.
Return dictated reports in printed or electronic form to the Quality Assurance Department.
Maintain current letterhead and signature blocks, updating information when required.
Ensure all dictation meets company standards of quality and is completed within the established timelines.
Maintain dictation equipment regularly and report any necessary repairs to management.
Participate in various educational and or training activities as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum one year clerical experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Experience in a medical office or insurance industry preferred.
Must possess complete knowledge of general computer, fax, copier, scanner, and telephone.
Must be knowledgeable of multiple software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and the Internet.
Must have ability to be trained on and adhere to HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.

Job Specific Minimum Qualifications
Must meet the requirements for a Medical Assistant (MA), a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or an EMT as described below:
Medical Assistants must have successfully completed an MA training program from an accredited school or program and must be eligible for and receive national certification within six (6) months of employment or must have three years of MA experience and have current national certification. Medical Assistants must obtain national certification from one of the following certifying organizations and must maintain certification by meeting CME requirements:
National Healthcareer Association (CCMA); or
American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA); or
American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA); or
National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT); or
By an approved and accredited certifying organization with CME requirements.
Licensed Practical Nurses must have successfully completed an LPN training program from an accredited school or program. In addition, LPNs must have current licensure as a practical nurse in the State of Wisconsin or must obtain licensure as a practical nurse in the State of Wisconsin within six (6) months of employment.
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) must have successfully completed an approved training program and have a valid State of Wisconsin license of one of the following:

Paramedic (EMT-P).
Possession of or eligibility for a valid Healthcare Provider CPR/AED certificate is required. Employee must obtain certification within four (4) months of employment.
