Job DescriptionDescription:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Facilitates communication between the patient and the provider.
Responsible for rooming patients, obtaining vitals, reviewing intake paperwork for completion, and preparing the patient for the visit.
Assists patients in receiving the appropriate level of care, including scheduling patient appointments.
Maintains exam room appearance. Rooms should be restocked at the end of each clinic day. Rooms and tables should be cleaned as needed during clinic and at the end of each day. Monitor biohazard and sharps containers and replace as needed.
Assist the provider with preparing injections, removing dressings, preparing patient prescriptions and completing medical and patient forms (i.e. work release, FMLA etc).
Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, practice managers, clinical staff and be capable of establishing good working relationships with both internal and external customers
Prepares patient charts for clinic visits to include updating patient demographic Information and verifying information with the patient.
Processes all requests for patient prescriptions in a timely manner. Chart all prescriptions in the patient chart to include drug, dose, number dispensed and refills.
Forwards all incoming documents and patient records for physician signature prior to scanning into the patient chart.
Prepares charts for clinic visits and prints clinic schedules.
The job holder must demonstrate current competencies for job position.
Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or GED.
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the health care field and orthopedics.
Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding patient care in the clinics.
Knowledge of back office skills to include injections, suture and staple removal, DME orders and Physical Therapy orders.
Knowledge of patient confidentiality, state laws, HIPAA regulations and medical records procedures.
SKILLS:
Skill in follow-up with patients and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
Skill and professionalism when interacting with providers, patients, family members and the public.
Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.

Given the nature of the duties required by the nursing support personnel, SWLA will recruit and hire applicable personnel in the categories of Medical Assistant, Certified and non-certified.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Graduate.
Current certification as a Clinical Medical Assistant.
Current BLS Certification.
CEUS or equivalent contact hours for re-certification, as applicable.
Must successfully complete and pass a competency exam.
At least one-year work experience as a Clinical Medical Assistant in an ambulatory outpatient facility preferred.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participates as an integral part of the multidisciplinary care team.
Responsible to greet patients and ensure that they do not spend excess waiting time in the exam room.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Hospital Corpsmen (HM) assist health care professionals in providing medical care to Navy personnel and their families. They may function as clinical or specialty technicians, medical administrative personnel and healthcare providers at medical treatment facilities. Specifically, Hospital Corpsmen may be called upon to:
Perform emergency medical treatment on SEALs, Seabees, Marines and other military personnel injured in the field, as well as on Sailors aboard ships or aircraft
Perform emergency dental treatment as well as construct dental crowns and bridges, process
dental X-rays and operate X-ray equipment
Serve as an operating room technician for general and specialized surgery
Help administer a wide range of preventive care and medications, including immunizations and intravenous fluids
Conduct physical examinations and assisting in the treatment of diseases and injuries
Maintain patient treatment records, conduct research and perform clinical tests
Assist Navy Physicians and Nurses in a variety of medical fields, including, but not limited to: radiology, physical therapy, phlebotomy, dental, surgery, family medicine, pathology, womens health and more
