Job Summary
Transplant APC (Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner) Provides inpatient/outpatient/OR based both primary and specialty medical services for the division of Transplantation and Advanced Hepatobiliary Surgery.
This position is responsible for providing both primary and specialty medical services. This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law.
Responsibilities
Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians.
First and second assist in the OR
Performs physical examinations.
Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures.
Reaches tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions.
Develops treatment plans in conjunction with attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management.
Participates in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards and conferences.
Assists in the collection of data for research projects.
Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.
Participates in special projects and committee functions.

You also must be able anticipate physician needs to facilitate the flow of clinic. Medical Scribes must be discreet, tactful, and modest in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Responsibilities
Essential Functions: The scribe should be able to accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to: Patient medical history and physical exam Procedures and treatments performed by the physician Entering orders for lab tests, imaging studies and referrals to other providers in the electronic medical record system During times when there are not scribe responsibilities, the individual will work on research data entry or analysis for the physician in support of his research mission. Position Summary
Under the supervision of agency prescribers and Division Director of Treatment Services, the Medical Assistant/Care Navigator performs routine administrative and clinical support functions to assist the prescribers including: answering phones, scheduling appointments, facilitating client communication with prescribers, tracking and managing referrals for medication management services or primary care services, and assisting clients in tracking their medication. Essential Duties
Act as a support person for the APRNs. Facilitate communication between prescribers and clients as well as between prescribers and other clinic staff.
Manage the APRNs' appointment schedule to capacity and eliminate no-shows, including scheduling appointments, making reminder calls, and rescheduling as needed.
Track clients' medications and assist in completing patient assistance applications.
Facilitate medication refills when needed and appropriate. Provide medication injections and draw labs when needed.
Engage and build rapport with clients, assist with referrals to link and connect clients with services and resources including primary care, mental health treatment, addiction treatment, recovery support, employment specialists, housing specialists and other social supports.
Coordinate care with existing internal and external providers at the point of admission, discharge and level of care changes. Track and facilitate referrals to PCPs.
Screen and monitor clients' common co-morbidities while also educating both consumers and other team members on potential side effects of treatments and medications to support safe, informed care.
Communicate and coordinate care with other medical professionals (e.g., pharmacy employees, medication representatives, other treatment providers).
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively on the phone, in writing and via email, as well as the ability to exercise discretion on sensitive and confidential matters.
Maintain records according to requirements, completing all documentation and billing in a timely manner, and in compliance with professional standards.
Maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality at all times.
Attend work on a punctual, regular, and predictable basis.
Secondary Duties
Maintain good professional relationships with appropriate community figures, referral sources, and other professionals. Coordinate and schedule with pharmaceutical representatives as needed.
Maintain and enhance professional skills and knowledge through attending conferences/ workshops/courses and reading professional materials that are relevant to job requirements and approved by the Program Director. International Health and Medical Services is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to ensure the efficient operation of healthcare services. In this role, you will manage administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, maintaining organized patient records, and facilitating effective communication among healthcare staff. Additionally, you will perform essential clinical duties, including taking patient histories, measuring vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, assisting with medical procedures, and conducting basic lab tests. This position is crucial for facilitating access to quality medical care and supporting the overall healthcare delivery process within the facility.
Provide direct care to patients throughout the lifespan in adherence to the defined Scope of Practice.
Complete all required competency assessments successfully and updates annually and attends all required training and completes successfully.
Perform functions in accordance with current accepted practice and certification.
Provide patient care under the supervision of licensed health care staff to include the registered nurse (RN), nurse practitioners (NP), physician assistant (PA), physician, dentist, psychiatrist, pharmacist, or behavioral health provider (BHP).
Respond to health emergencies as directed by licensed health care staff.
Ask patient health questions as directed by licensed health care staff.
Complete required health documentation in the electronic health record.
Prepare patient and examination room for health evaluation by licensed health care staff.
Perform tasks for outpatient health care to include:
Vital signs
Fingerstick glucose checks
Urinalysis, urine pregnancy test, urine drug screening, and other CLIA-waived tests performed at the facility.
Rapid flu and strep testing.
Phlebotomy
Peak flow test
Infant length/weight/head circumference
Electrocardiogram
Sterile set up and clean up for minor outpatient surgical procedures.
Sterilization, packaging, and/or disposal of medical instruments.
Management of medical waste as per requirements.
Administration of basic first aid.
Dressing changes as ordered by licensed health staff.
Administration of immunizations
Serving as chaperone during patient examinations.
Serving as scribe for patient health care encounters.
Administration of medications via topical, oral, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, and nasally as ordered by licensed health staff.
Other assigned duties within scope of practice
Perform required quality assurance testing and manages inventory as required:
Maintain laboratory supplies and equipment
Assist administrative leadership in required supply ordering processes
Perform required quality testing on CLIA waived equipment and maintain appropriate testing logs
Properly use equipment, materials and supplies in simple diagnostic and treatment procedures.
Work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual environment.
Utilize telephone, video and in-person interpreter services to complete assigned duties if not fluent in a language understandable by patients being provided medical care.
Adapt to sudden changes in schedules and flexibility in work requirements.
Communicate proficiently in English (verbal and written) in order to develop positive rapport with patients, co-workers and other stakeholders.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships in a multidisciplinary environment.
Navigate in an electronic work environment including electronic health records, web-based training and communications.
Moderate proficiency in, common Microsoft Office programs, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint.
Utilize knowledge of regulations (HIPAA/Privacy Act) regarding the confidentiality of patient medical records and information as well as Personally Identifiable Information (PII).
Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all communications with coworkers and clients, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment that values diversity.
Complete required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
Active, unrestricted certification as a Medical Assistant. Certified by one of the following:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA),
Registered Medical Assistant by the American Society of Medical Technologists (AMT),
Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Health Career Association (NHA),
National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or
National Registered title of Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) by the National Health Association for Health Professionals.
Current, active, and unrestricted license, registration, certification, or other credential issued or recognized by the appropriate state authority (if required in the state where services are performed).
One year of experience as a medical assistant in a clinical setting (preferred, not required).
Experience in a detention, correctional or residential healthcare setting (preferred, not required).
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook (email), Windows, Social Media Platforms, and navigating the web.
Must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
