The Medical Assistant role provides clinical and administrative support for patients under the direction of a Provider and/or licensed Nurse.
Responsibilities:

Performs routine task and general office duties such as faxing, copying, filing, etc. as needed
Cleans, stocks, and prepares examination rooms
Develops and maintains positive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues
Follows safety policies and procedures in the delivery of care to assure a safe environment for patients, families, and other staff members

The staff nurse or medical assistant provides direct service to meet the holistic medical and wellness needs of students at Marietta College. Working directly with the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in the Dr. J. Michael Harding Center for Health and Wellness, this position entails the duties and responsibilities outlined immediately below.
Essential Functions:
* Provide medical care, treatment and support to Marietta College students.
* Promote student independence as health care consumers, teaching students to understand medical conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
* Develop, coordinate, and implement educational seminars related to health and wellness.
* Maintain documentation of student health records (e.g., immunizations) to comply with federal and state laws as well as guidelines from the American College Health Association.
* Provide triage and assist Physician Assistant (or Physician) during treatment examinations and procedures.
* Perform testing and administer medications within the scope of practice of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Medical Assistant.
* Maintain confidentiality and abide by HIPAA and FERPA guidelines. Educate and assist students on the effective use of the health care system, including insurance coverage.
* Utilize education, experience, and sound professional judgement to plan and accomplish goals.
* Support the mission of Marietta College and abide by the policies and operating procedures of the Dr. J. Michael Harding Center for Health and Wellness.
* Share front-office clerical responsibilities on a rotating basis with the other staff nurse in the Center.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
* Associate's Degree in Nursing or Medical Assistant, and at least one (1) year of work experience that is demonstrably applicable to the essential functions of the staff nurse/medical assistant position. A Medical Assistant must have (or be willing to acquire) proper training and certification to administer intramuscular and subcutaneous injections under the supervision of the Physician Assistant.
* Licensure in good standing in the State of Ohio as an LPN or Medical Assistant (or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure).
* Registered Nurses (RNs) with licensure in good standing in the State of Ohio (or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure) will also be considered for this position, with the understanding that the salary is budgeted at a level appropriate for individuals with LPN or Medical Assistant credentials.
Additional Qualifications:
* Medical office or other outpatient/ambulatory clinic experience is highly desirable.
* Up-to-date CPR certification is preferred.
* Experience working with community providers, resources, and other networks is desirable.
Additional Information:
This position is a full-time position from August to mid-May (40 hours/week) between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. The ideal candidate will also be able and willing to work limited hours during the summer months (mid-May through July, maximum 200 hours total) to provide pre-arranged office coverage as needed.
