Certified Medical Assistant / Registered Nurse PRIMARY FUNCTION CMA/RNs are member of a primary care team responsible for the care and treatment of patients in a medical office by assisting medical providers utilizing both assessment and technical skills. PRINCIPLE DUTIES
Maintains records of vital statistics and other pertinent patient data including medical and social histories.
Prepares patients for and assists with examinations.
Conducts specified laboratory tests.
Collects lab specimens, including blood, urine, stool, sputum, mucous, and skin sources.
Administers injections and medications, dresses wounds and incisions, interprets physicians' instructions to patients, assists with emergency and minor surgery, and performs related tasks as directed.
Cleans and sterilizes instruments and equipment, and maintains stock of supplies and medications.
Records and develops electrocardiograms.
Relays messages to providers, assist providers with prescription requests, phones in prescriptions to the appropriate pharmacy once ordered and instructed to by a provider.
Other duties within the scope of practices as assigned by the provider and/or supervisor.

JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education Completion of an accredited program for medical assisting or nursing program Minimum Work Experience Minimum 1 year medical office experience preferred. Required License Current Kentucky Nursing license or Certification/Registration for medical assisting Basic Life Support Certification Qualifications Successful applicants will be mature and well organized with pleasant personality and speaking voice. Knowledge of medical office procedures, basic computer skills, and patient flow in a primary care setting is preferred. Overview of the Clinical Care Navigator, Medical Assistant role
The Clinical Care Navigator's primary responsibility is to facilitate the optimal delivery of care for members enrolled in the Wayspring Clinic. This role is an essential aspect of the Wayspring SUD Home program, supporting members through their wellness journey. The Clinical Care Navigator, Medical Assistant will be responsible for collaborating and coordinating care plans with internal and external providers, including Wayspring Primary Care Nurse Practitioners, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health Therapists and Member Engagement team members.
Clinical Care Navigators assist members in starting and navigating their single, holistic care journey with Wayspring. CCN's are part of the Clinical Operations department and report to their respective market Clinical Operations leader. CCN's primarily assist both members in coming to the clinic and providers (Nurse Practitioners and Therapists) with preparation, documentation, and care follow-ups.
Responsibilities of the Clinical Care Navigator, Medical Assistant
* Assists in the facilitation of optimal delivery of care for members enrolled in the Wayspring Clinic
* Completes intake patient registration documentation for new patient appointments
* Assists in management of the Wayspring clinic calendar and schedule
* Rooms patients being seen in-person at the Wayspring clinic
* Completes chart preparation for internal Wayspring providers through Athena (Wayspring EMR)
* Performs patient outreach engagement activities, including outbound calls to improve clinic utilization
* Fields inbound calls, schedules appointments as requested
* Leads daily Clinic Huddles virtually and in-person
* Completes Point of Care Testing, i.e. urine drug screen and performs quality controls
* Manages the clinical inbox and related Athena items
* Coordinates specialty referrals, routing orders, care coordination, participates in safety inspection processes, appointment follow ups and more.
* Provides support to providers during clinic visits, as needed
* Serves as a clinical resource specific to members' unique issues and treatment plans to Wayspring's internal teams

Requirements & Preferred Qualifications
* Certified as a Medical Assistant from the American Academy of Medical Assistants, the American Medical Technologist Organization, or current registration with the American Registry of Medical Assistants or approved eligibility
* Minimum of three (3) years of experience working within a provider clinic, assisting both front and back office. Experience in settings that include primary care, substance use disorder, and care management preferred
* CPR/AED/BLS certification or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of employment; maintain and provide proof of current certification(s)

Determines if the patient has equipment available for measuring their vital signs (scale, thermometer, blood pressure cuff, pulse ox, etc.). Instructs the patient how to properly obtain their vital signs and documents the reported readings in the patient chart.
Notifies the provider when the check-in and intake processes are complete that the patient is ready. Changes the workflow status in the EHR to Ready for Service.
Maintains availability for further assistance during the patient visit if provider or patient have technical issues.
Upon the conclusion of the visit, monitors provider orders for patient follow-up orders. Schedules or enters recall as appropriate.
Provides superior customer service to all patients, external customers (office staff of other offices, hospital, community agencies, etc.), and co-workers. Serves as an ambassador of the White House Clinics in all conversations and interactions with these parties.
Assists with other duties or in other departments as instructed by supervisor.
