Responsibilities
The Residency Medical Assistant (MA) is familiar with medical terminology, the names of instruments, how to interact with patients and provides patient care and other related clinical, laboratory, technical and other support to Resident Physicians and Attendings following El Centro Family Health Care Policy and Procedures. Will prepare patients for resident physician visits, assist with visits as needed. Interact with Residents and Attendings as part of the care team providing input to care plans when appropriate. Will provide continuity of care to Resident's patients by monitoring encounters, lab, and refill request queues, referral management, especially when the Residents are not in clinic. Assist with record obtainment and documentation regarding value-based care and UDS measures. May organize and participate in simulations at ECFH sites. May be required to travel to perform work assignments at any ECFH Medical Clinic. The Lead MA will mentor the Residency Medical Assistant.
Minimum requirements
EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required.
CERTIFICATIONS: Registered Medical Assistant (preferred)
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/Basic Life Support (BLS)
(Obtained within 3 months of hire).
EXPERIENCE: None.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: TST Screening, HepB vaccine for waiver, Background Check, Current Driver's License and Proof of Automobile Insurance (if using a vehicle owned by El Centro Family Health).

ADHERES TO INFECTION CONTROL STANDARDS AND PRACTICES by implementing aseptic and sterile techniques when required, using personal protective equipment as required; demonstrating proper instrument cleaning, sterilization and storage.
ASSISTS PATIENTS AND FAMILIES by assessing communication barriers, providing translation services as assigned and assisting with completion of clinic paperwork; communicating in a professional manner with patents/families, maintaining confidentiality and treating patients/ family members with respect.
ASSISTS CLINIC'S LEAD MEDICAL ASSISTANT AND CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER by assuring adequate medical supplies and equipment; maintaining sufficient exam room supplies daily and by notifying appropriate staff timely when medical supplies are needed.
MAINTAINS AND UPDATES SKILLS by continuing education by attending seminars related to job responsibilities; attending required in-house trainings.
CONTRIBUTES TO THE TEAM EFFORT by performing related tasks as needed; participating regularly in team meetings, daily huddles and monthly QA/PI meetings; demonstrating positive working relationships and communications with team members; performing additional duties as assigned such as making contact on a periodic basis with patients who are flagged for reminder/recall, assuring they receive timely follow up depending upon their diagnoses, age and the services for which they are due and facilitating post-hospital discharge follow-up.
