Primary Purpose:
Responsible for accurate transcription and preservation of referral laboratory results. Retrieves results from referral laboratories and types reports into ARUP's LIS. Makes and receives phone calls from referral laboratories regarding laboratory results. Attention to detail is critical.

Essential Functions:
Accurately transcribes referral laboratory results received into ARUP's LIS.
Performs quality assurance on all entered reports prior to verification.
Performs a wide variety of clerical support including data entry, typing, filing, etc.
Evaluates daily workload to determine priority of result entry.
Serve as a liaison between technical section and referral laboratories
Handles phone calls and professional communications with efficiency, courtesy, poise, and tact.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions: The scribe should be able to accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to: Patient medical history and physical exam Procedures and treatments performed by the physician Entering orders for lab tests, imaging studies and referrals to other providers in the electronic medical record system During times when there are not scribe responsibilities, the individual will work on research data entry or analysis for the physician in support of his research mission. May work with research personnel in the design and preparation of research projects and in recording data.
