Successful candidate will provide direct library services to children & families, supporting early literacy and the love of reading. Duties will include reference and reader's advisory, planning and presenting children's events from birth to grade 5, and assisting in collection maintenance. Candidate will present weekly storytimes, support community partnerships, and provide outreach to local elementary schools, daycare centers, and preschools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and one year experience working with children preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Possess excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills, ability to plan and present events, knowledge of children's books, basic computer skills, and ability to work both independently and as a team member. As a Paraprofessional you are required to:
* A High School diploma or equivalent

As a Paraprofessional you will:
* Assist Teachers in providing educational benefits for students
* Work with students on academic assignments and / or physical needs
* Assist Teachers in preparing materials, operating classroom or child mobility assistive technology, and attending workshops, seminars, and training programs
* Lifting of students up to 50 pounds using a 1 person lift, or up to 300 pounds using a 2 person lift, pivot with the weight and transport up to 10 feet. Lifts may be conducted up to 20 times per day.
* Assisting students in transition between classes within a 4 minute passing time by walking, guiding or pushing the student.
* Assisting students on steps, boarding and exiting transportation vehicles. Assistance includes supporting, lifting, pushing or pulling up to 300 pounds.
* Moving from a seated position on the floor to standing and moving about the classroom at least 15-20 times per 3 hour period.
* The ability to run after and catch a student in flight. Running may occur on hard, soft, and uneven surfaces.
* Assisting with delegated nursing duties, which may include catheterization, tube feeding, administration of diastat, and other duties that may be delegated, with proper training.
