Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Sales Planning
Develop and execute a vision and account strategy aimed at long-term profitable growth consistent with business plans.
Ensure the development of sales plans, strategies, objectives, policies and procedures conform to broad corporate sales and marketing objectives.
Manage internal forecasting procedures. Evaluate needs and demands of the customer and develop a business case for feasibility using the appropriate processes.
Identify, evaluate, plan and champion ongoing cost reduction initiatives.
Continuously gather intelligence, log and share on product performance, customers, competitors, consumers' attitudes, new opportunities, pricing, promotions, products, etc.
Account Management
Responsible for creating and developing consultative relationships with key decision makers in various levels of large strategic groups or accounts.
Sell Medline capabilities to prospective prime vendor accounts as well as manage and direct existing prime vendor accounts.
Apply expert market and customer knowledge to Medline Field Sales teams, Specialists, and Product Divisions.
Responsible for understanding the account and building the business through fact-based knowledge by positioning products, programs and promotions to help them maximize sales.
Assess competitive price position, assuring competitive pricing to maximize sales and profitability within account and consistent with brand positioning.
Track sales performance against objectives and inform management of results.
Work directly with other key sales personnel to launch new contracts and on any "save" opportunities to contracts under threat or loss.
Develop and maintain existing sales programs.
Internal Partnership
Collaborate closely with the Medline Field Sales team to promote sales goals and initiatives
Collaborate with key internal groups on projects, product conversions and implementations.
Act as team leader for account projects; guide Strategic Accounts sales support team operations.
Provide timely and effective communication with all stakeholders including healthcare accounts, internal product divisions, sales teams and corporate customers.
Sales Administration
Responsible for developing the sales presentation (content, format, etc.).
Responsible for the completion of Requests for Proposal (RFP's) for all new and existing product contract opportunities.
Own process for non-formal RFPs and help manage retention of existing deals as they come up for expiration.
Monitor and measure progress against the budget and alter plans, strategies, etc. to ensure achievement of the sales budget.
Manage account program costs, (i.e., advertising, rebates, buyback and slotting allowance, etc.) while maximizing sales.
Monitor and distribute monthly reports, and specialized reports on contracts, programs and focus areas.
Leadership
This is a high-level individual contributor role - management responsibilities limited to leading day-to-day activities and outcomes of a group of employees.
May be involved in training and development of staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a business or clinical-related field.
At least 7 years of direct sales and/or account management experience to include experience in a similar role in the healthcare industry.
Demonstrated ability to engage and present to senior management or C-suite with the purpose of influencing company or client decisions.
Demonstrated understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
Proven ability to identify, connect with, build consensus and close new business; ability to negotiate contracts and close deals.
Experience assessing and initiating actions independently; experience taking charge of a situation, team or project.

Purpose:
Reporting to the Spine Enabling Technologies Leader, the Capital Equipment Sales Manager will serve as the point person for end-to-end commercialization. This will include sales and capital program management for all DePuy Synthes capital platforms in Spine, including technologies accessed through internal and external, current and future partnerships. The Capital Equipment Sales Manager will be primarily responsible for developing and executing business plans for assigned territories, strategizing and delivering technology demonstrations, presenting customers with various capital equipment acquisition options, and driving the capital sales process to completion. This position will coordinate efforts with local implant clinical selling teams and Strategic Customer Group account leaders to ensure the customer achieves the desired performance goals for implant performance-based programs.
You will be responsible for:
* Develop and execute quarterly business plans for targeted accounts for the assigned portfolio of capital equipment in partnership with local Spine field sales organization and SCG leadership.
* Develop relationships with both clinical and economic champions at new and existing accounts to best understand customer needs, capital buying cycle, preferred mode of new technology acquisition. Identify and convert capital sales and program opportunities in the assigned territory.
* Work with the Program Office, Deal Desk, Finance, SCG, and field sales organization to develop appropriate capital offering (Rental, Lease, Share Shifts) and drive implant sales growth.
* Present and negotiate capital pricing and program performance terms with the customer in collaboration with SCG account leaders and the field sales organization
* Manage regional relationship with Brainlab sales channel as well as DePuy Synthes Spine sales team
* Influence manage both Brainlab sales and DePuy Synthes Sales teams to execute on capital sales goals and targets.
* Support new customers in clinical adoption of select technologies.
* Work with the customer to ensure customer can achieve their clinical and economic goals with the new technology and overall customer satisfaction driving higher customer retention rate.
* Must develop and maintain expert level knowledge on all assigned capital equipment products and demonstrate a firm grasp of industry trends, understands market conditions, and develop strategies to stay ahead of the competition. Complete all assigned training in timely manner.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and critical business partners to develop and execute customer/product specific sales strategies and tactics.
* Ensure timely, accurate reporting of any complaints or technical issues, following documented procedures.
* Open to travel to meet and support customers with any technical product and or service related issue on short notice.

Qualifications / Requirements:
* A minimum of a Bachelor's degree, or 8 years of relevant professional work experience or 8 years military experience
* A minimum of 3 years of capital equipment sales, marketing or commercialization experience is required.
* A valid Driver's License is required as part of the job.
* Demonstrated ability to learn and communicate technical product as well as clinical knowledge of disease states to surgeons and economic buyers a must. Experience working with highly complex technical systems and/or working in a critical patient care setting.
* The ability to travel extensively up to 75% including overnight travel within the assigned territory a must for the role.
* Required to work in a hospital, ASC setting, attending live patient cases as and when required as part of the job, and wear necessary protective gear (i.e. lead aprons).

**External Basic Qualifications:**
+ Six months of prior work experience with Walgreens (internal candidates) or one year of prior retail work experience (external candidates).
+ Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
+ Must have a willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
+ "Achieving expectations" rating on last performance review and no written disciplinary actions in the previous 12 months (internal candidates only).
