About this Job:
Provides basic patient medical care during interfacility ambulance transport. Performs medical procedures under the supervision of a transport paramedic transport nurse or established protocol.All associates hired to work in this job area or role require respiratory protection and must successfully complete a company-provided N95 mask fit test. The use of a properly fitted N95 mask is a mandatory safety requirement. Exemptions or alternatives to the required N95 mask fit are not permitted. Associates who do not pass the fit test may not be considered for this job.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Safely and efficiently operates the ground ambulance obeying all driving laws.
Conducts an inspection of the assigned ambulance at the beginning of each shift to ensure the ambulance is ready and safe for use.
As part of the programs safety management system provides feedback and participates in program safety initiatives.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Ensures cleanliness and appropriate par levels of supplies in transport vehicle(s).
Establishes and maintains professional radio communications with MedSTAR and other agencies adhering to appropriate FCC protocols.
Initiates department standing orders in appropriate patients. Performs basic airway techniques including oxygen therapy. May perform bag-mask ventilation according to established departmental protocols in emergency situations.
Maintains a safe and therapeutic environment of caring for patients and families. Provides basic patient comfort measures during procedures. When necessary provides environmental support to expedite timely patient admission or transfer. Identifies and acts upon opportunities to improve the environment of care.
Participates in MedSTAR Transport safety program.
Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts.
Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Transports patients to various locations as assigned. Loads and unloads patients medical equipment and passengers from MedStar transportation vehicles. May assist in the unloading and transportation of MedSTAR patients from other transportation vehicles through MedSTAR and to assigned rooms as required.

This position has a hiring range of $200,750 - $285,000.

Maintains regulatory and functional knowledge of all registration information required, which ensures timely and accurate reporting/billing; also obtains all required signatures, and performs clerical duties as necessary.
Educates patients regarding adequate insurance coverage. Understands applicable hospital and physician billing requirements and communicates the proper procedures and requirements to patients.
Communicates coverage issues to the service areas; works with patients and staff to resolve.
Ensures accuracy and completion of paperwork, prior to filing admissions. Contacts physician/clinical staff to assist with incomplete patient registration paperwork. Distributes admission documents if required.
Maintains department scheduling templates for applicable providers in outpatient department locations. Ensuring appropriate scheduling utilization.
Maintains consistent contact with the Care Management team and Social Work departments to ensure required information has been obtained for reimbursement, and that pre-admission and pre-certification requirements are followed.
Assists supervisor with training of new Admitting staff by demonstrating department operating processes and procedures.
Qualifications
Completion of a high school level education with attainment of a high school diploma or a State High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) is required.
Certification and memberships to local organizations such as AAHAM, NAHAM, etc. preferred.
1 year of work experience in a clerical, customer service or receptionist position, preferably in a healthcare setting is required. 2 years' work experience preferred.

Reviews available tools to effectively house the new business operations/significant operations checklist to recommend a tool to leadership for early adoption.
Represents the best interests of Finance through full participation in special projects and in doing so acts as Financial Reporting and ERP representative for project management. Due to the frequency of special projects, the individual maintains a structured process for successful implementation & participation in the project including but not limited to effective planning, change management, communication, engagement of impacted parties, and resource engagement/acquisition of internally/external resources. Communicate regularly with various finance personnel to ensure optimal efficiency and effectiveness of financial reporting.
Assists, manages, schedules, coordinates, and directs project activities, assigns work, monitors work and evaluates performance.
Supports the Financial Reporting & ERP team through the creation of standardized testing plans and validation tools for the systems we use.
Compiles and analyzes data to answer routine and ad hoc reporting and analytic requests assigned. Organizes and maintains major reports and schedules containing complex data from multiple sources and assists in the implementation of new processes.
Apply UMMS policies and procedures as well as federal, state, and local statutes or regulations governing general accounting practices to ensure accurate and effective service.

Qualifications
Education & Experience - Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent.
Minimum five (5) years of previous experience in professional accounting or auditing.

Knowledge of general accounting principles is required. General knowledge of state and federal tax laws and regulations.

Primary Duties:
Completes documentation relevant to activities. Complies with and ensures adherence to documentation standards. Complies with data collection, entry, and reporting requirements. Coordinates admission to programs and services within Behavioral Health Services and associated programs. Provides and coordinates referrals to internal or external resources as appropriate. Ensures accurate documentation to clinically substantiate the recommended level of care. Coordinates insurance authorization for higher levels of care. Ensures accuracy of legal paperwork.
Works directly and effectively with the inpatient units at MedStar Franklin Square Medical Center, MedStar Harbor Hospital, MedStar Union Memorial Hospital, and MedStar Good Samaritan Hospital to coordinate admissions. Effectively communicates with other area hospitals and outpatient resources to effectively coordinate recommended level of care.
Serves as liaison between MedStar Franklin Square, MedStar Harbor, MedStar Good Samaritan, and MedStar Union Memorial Inpatient Psychiatric Units and outside agencies and referral sources to coordinate/facilitate admissions to the inpatient units. Process referral information for review by inpatient unit/providers. Communicates effectively with referral sources, inpatient unit staff and admissions department to coordinate transfer/admission. Serves as liaison to referral sources, outside agencies, third-party payors, and other interested parties as appropriate and within limits of confidentiality.
Participates in the management of aggressive patients as needed to ensure the safety of patient, self, and others. Recognizes early warning signs of escalating behaviors and intervenes as appropriate. Provides clinical assessment, evaluation, and disposition of persons presenting with behavioral health concerns or illness. Effectively assess, engage, and disposition patients with a wide variety of diagnoses and needs. Provides education to patients and families about inpatient and outpatient processes and resources. Collects information from family/other involved parties/referral sources regarding current presentation and past clinical history to integrate into an appropriate recommendation for necessary level of care.
Communicates effectively with treating physicians, nurses, and community-based resources to ensure appropriate care. Provides timely and comprehensive documentation and ongoing assessments while patients are in the Emergency Department. Provides support to Emergency Department staff for behavioral health issues. Provides comprehensive crisis assessments.
Qualifications:
Master's degree in psychology, Social Work, or related field.
Licensed Certified Social Worker - Clinical (LCSW-C), or Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC), or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), or License Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Ph.D.
1-2 years' experience in the assessment and disposition of behavioral health disorders preferred.
