Primary Duties:
Acts as an advocate while assisting members to coordinate and gain access to medical, psychiatric, psychosocial, and other essential services to meet their healthcare needs. Provides social services to patients/clients and their families. Collaborates with physicians, nurses, patients, and their families to assess patient social needs and monitor progress of medical treatment.
Maintains a working knowledge of available resources for addressing identified patient needs and to facilitate proactive and efficient provision of services. Maintains a working knowledge of available community resources available to assist patients.
Demonstrates behavior consistent with MedStar Health mission, vision, goals, objectives and patient care philosophy. Maintains timely and accurate documentation in the case management system. Participates in staff meetings, Care Management meetings, work groups, and other in-services to enhance professional knowledge and competency for patient management.
Provides input, completes assignments, and shares new findings with other care team members. Communicates effectively while performing telephonic interviewing and communication with external contacts and while interacting with Case Management Specialists, Management Team, Physicians, and other interdepartmental contacts.
Collaborates with Primary Care Physicians, Medical Specialists, Home Health, and other ancillary healthcare providers with the goal being to coordinate patient care. Coordinates with community organizations/agencies to identify additional resources.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work.
1-2 years recent case management experience.
3-4 years Diverse clinical experience.
Valid Social Worker license in Maryland.

Program Details
The Transition to Practice Program (TPP) is a 12-month program designed to provide the nurse resident with an opportunity to transition into the role of a professional nurse under the guidance and support of our clinical nursing staff, nurse educators and program facilitators.
The program includes didactic and simulated learning combined with hands-on training in the clinical practice based environment, facilitating the nurse resident's transition from novice to competent nurse. Additionally, the program aims to create a strong social network that fosters a sense of community, support, resiliency building and professional development.
The TPP is offered twice a year to newly-licensed graduate nurses from an accredited nursing program with a passion for children. All new graduates with less than one year of clinical experience are eligible to participate in the program after obtaining licensure.

Developing and analyzing reports to assist management to enhance revenue cycle performance and maximize operational efficiencies.

This position is responsible for managing the inpatient and outpatient financial clearance component of the Revenue Cycle for multiple entities and, as such, must establish relationships at all facilities and be familiar with each institution's registration/scheduling practices and payer contracts, although they may not be under the direct control of the incumbent. In addition, knowledge of managed care and regulations impacting patient accounting, as well as the ability to integrate activities under his or her direct control with the overall Revenue Cycle Management function, are essential elements of this function.
Qualifications
Requires Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. A Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, or Information Management is preferred.
CRCE/CMPA/CHFP certification preferred, leadership role in industry organizations such as HFMA, AAHAM, or MHA strongly encouraged.
A minimum of ten (10) years of hospital receivables/operations management experience within a large academic medical center or health system, with at least six (6) of those years in a management capacity.
Prior work experience must include revenue cycle management projects and/or responsibilities, and a significant role in a redesign project and/or management experience working in a highly automated, centralized business office environment.
Salary Range
$160,000 to $205,000 per year. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

Serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors who enter the facilities and is responsible for all aspects of customer service for Patient Access/Patient Administrative Services areas in a manner that ensures a customer focused, quality conscious work climate recognizing that patients visits are filled with anxiety and unknowns.
Primary functions include focusing on interpersonal skills, data collection, the ability to assess situations, and to assist the team in developing solutions to achieve excellence in customer service while ensuring the financial viability of the hospital.
Collects and verifies patient and insurance demographics, verifies insurance benefits and coverage by reviewing benefits collection in Epic, provides cost estimates, securing pre-certifications and/or pre-notifications for patient services, collection of co-pay and deposits prior to services and providing financial assistance to patient.
Provides wayfinding to all clinics which Patient Administrative Services provides registration assistance. Staff must be aware of clinic locations in order to safely and efficiently navigate patients to their appointments.
Maintains regulatory and functional knowledge of all registration information required, which ensures timely and accurate reporting/billing; also obtains all required signatures, and performs clerical duties as necessary.
Educates patients regarding adequate insurance coverage. Understands applicable hospital and physician billing requirements and communicates the proper procedures and requirements to patients.
Communicates coverage issues to the service areas; works with patients and staff to resolve.
Ensures accuracy and completion of paperwork, prior to filing admissions. Contacts physician/clinical staff to assist with incomplete patient registration paperwork. Distributes admission documents if required.
Maintains department scheduling templates for applicable providers in outpatient department locations. Ensuring appropriate scheduling utilization.
Maintains consistent contact with the Care Management team and Social Work departments to ensure required information has been obtained for reimbursement, and that pre-admission and pre-certification requirements are followed.
Assists supervisor with training of new Admitting staff by demonstrating department operating processes and procedures.
Qualifications
Completion of a high school level education with attainment of a high school diploma or a State High School Equivalency Certificate (GED) is required.
Certification and memberships to local organizations such as AAHAM, NAHAM, etc. preferred.
1 year of work experience in a clerical, customer service or receptionist position, preferably in a healthcare setting is required. 2 years' work experience preferred.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Informatics, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in IT consulting, IT strategy, or technical leadership roles, preferably within a healthcare setting.
Experience leading IT projects, managing resources, and driving technology initiatives in a complex matrixed environment.
Proven record of accomplishment managing IT projects, implementations, and system integrations in a complex organization.
Advanced knowledge of IT infrastructure, cloud solutions, data security, and interoperability.
Proven ability to collaborate with stakeholders and provide strategic IT recommendations.
Expert skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely at all levels within the organization.
Expert skill to influence, negotiate and persuade to reach agreeable exchange and positive outcomes.

Medical Lab Scientist II

The Medical Laboratory Scientist II (MLS II) role, under general supervision, performs analyses on a variety of sample types. Maintains proper records and utilizes independent judgement to generate acceptable test results. Responsible for quality, efficiency and safety in the performance of laboratory functions. Serves as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team.
Key Responsibilities
Independently performs waived, moderate and high complexity testing using manual and automated processes. Complies and participates with all regulatory agency guidelines (CLIA 88, TJC, CAP, FDA, etc.) and addresses concerns as needed.
Independently identifies and resolves analytical problems, troubleshoots equipment issues and takes corrective action in evaluating testing procedures, patient results and specimen integrity; seeks guidance when necessary.
Independently reviews and records quality control and determines the acceptability of testing, patient results, and instrument function by applying the principles of QA/QC daily.
Responds to clinical and customer concerns, independently resolves customer issues in a confidential manner, employing integrity and discretion.
Assists with development and modification of procedures and assumes additional responsibilities when appropriate.
Independently troubleshoots and resolves problems and documents corrective actions.
Attends/Leads mandatory education, training, and in-service meetings specific to department.
Performs duties as assigned related to the job description.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biology or related sciences or an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field or completion of Military Laboratory Technician program with experience required.
Experience: 0-1 years (bachelor's degree) preferred; minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience (Associates in MLT or related science or Military Training) required.
Licensure/Certifications: ASCP or equivalent preferred.
