Meesho company history timeline

2015

By the end of 2015, Fashnear was renamed as 'Meesho'.

They named their start-up FashNear and launched it in mid-2015, but unfortunately the idea back-fired.

2016

In 2016, Y Combinator selected three Indian companies and Meesho was one of them.

2018

The Series B round was closed on June 7, 2018, which raised 11.5 million dollars.

2020

Meesho debuted its first television advertisement on September 25, 2020.

Although ecommerce has been one of the biggest highlights of 2020, it has actually seen a steady rise in the past decade.

As expected, 2020 became a big year for Meesho as it generated $42 million and raised $300 million.

As the founder Vidit Aatrey, the social reselling business in India is expected to be $6-7 billion in size as of 2020.

2022

The company was last valued at $5 bn in March 2022.

Meesho relaunched Farmiso as Meesho Superstore, in its rebranding attempt on April 5, 2022.

Meesho has recently fired around 150 employees, as of April 11, 2022, due to a restructuring initiative of Meesho Superstore grocery delivery service.

Meesho announced that a smear campaign was raging against the company, which is why it sent a legal notice to the social media influencers and the people associated with them, as per the reports dated June 7, 2022.

Vidit Aatrey mentioned Meesho's plans to list on the bourses in the next 12-24 months, as per the news dated June 13, 2022.

By December 2022, Meesho hopes to have 100 million monthly transactional users, which it did as of June 2022.
