They all were from different places in life that allowed me to learn.
The hours were only 20 for the week but the co working atmosphere I dreamed over lack my confidence upon upon a time.
Inclusion, diversity, management works well with team members, hours are flexible, most team members are friendly and helpful to not only the customers but also to their colleagues.
It’s located quite a distance from where I live.

I have found that the open door management policy truly does apply here. They honestly DO care about their employees and their opinions and suggestions. Their actions have spoken louder than any words could have.
At our location, as is in most locations, I would say there are a few folks that probably dislike having to do a job in general and as such will constantly complain about the job they have to do. I’m not exactly sure how but morale of these employees needs to be improved.
I have always relied on honesty. Each interviewer has a different method of determining the type of employee they would like to employ. Answering any and all questions with a simple honest answer will help the interviewer make a better decision. Neith they nor you want to have the wrong person placed in the wrong job.
My personal wage is below “industry “ level however, I am part time and I still believe the job I do complete is not worth the amount of money I am paid. Please bear in mind that I am not trying to support a household, I just want extra retirement income.

Initially there was a focus on pleasing customers modeling after Fred Meijer’s philosophy.
Ignoring obvious store problems caused by shorting departments of adequate staffing due to corporate greed!
I loved it when us managers were allowed to problem solve in our own departments. Over time line managers began micromanaging and were the source of department dysfunctions! They were the ones who should have received the layoffs. They were generally useless and were never productive or helped during department crisis. Example: Seasonal overflow in lawn & garden, check lane overflow. Some area team leaders were required to carry 5 department phones. And many times could never take an uninterrupted break or lunch Leading to burn out!
I had 2 great CEO’s… Roger Bowlby and Mike Burkhardt. They problem solved with me and took my suggestions into consideration. They knew even if I disagreed, my main interest was the Meijer guest, Meijer Inc and of course Meijer employees.
I think stopping the fake culture that every Corporate idea is the only right solution. Many company problems began with trying to implement a District Director’s “ from the hip “approach! Perhaps the faulty logic actually originated further up the chain of command and wasn’t a good fit for our store.
I took my experience as a Meijer customer and explained why I was a good fit for their store! I had recently read Fred Meijer’s book and loved his customer “guest” focus!
There was very little diversity at my store. Partly due to a lack of diversity in the nearby community.
Acknowledgement of reaching store goals and having a great team all focused on the same procedures, priorities and having a less pressured daily work environment.
