Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by training in Water Treatment Operations or a related field.
License/Certificate:
* Possession of, at a minimum, a Grade III Advanced Water Treatment Operator certificate issued by the California-Nevada AWWA/California Water Environment Association. As mandated by the California-Nevada AWWA/California Water Environment Association, specialized and continuing education/training is mandatory for renewal of the certificate.
* Possession of an appropriate, valid driver's license.
Environmental Conditions: Advanced Water treatment plant environment; exposure to noise, dust, grease, smoke, fumes, gases, electrical energy, radiant energy, toxic materials, and inclement weather conditions; work in or with water.

Daily responsibilities of a Recreation Leader include, but aren't limited to the following:
Directing and supervising participants of the programs

The Aquatics Instructor is a part-time year-round position. Under the supervision of the Aquatic Supervisor and/or Recreation Supervisor, the person in this position will organize, lead and teach specialized aquatic activities and do related work as required.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct American Red Cross swimming lessons ranging from Parent/Child Aquatics to Learn to Swim Level Six
Promote participation, provide information on available programs and enforce required safety rules and regulations
Rescue persons in distress and render first aid
Assist in conducting special events and maintenance and operation of aquatic facilities
Qualifications
Possess current certificates in the following:
Must possess a current certificate in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
Three months of experience as a swim instructor is preferred
Knowledge of:
Principles and techniques of teaching swim lessons to all ages
Knowledge of lifeguarding techniques, first aid, and other aquatic instruction
Must possess a current certificate in American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI)
Ability to:
Interact and be patient and professional with the public
Ability to follow class guidelines and exercises, enforce required safety rules and regulations

Under close supervision, a Trainee participates in a comprehensive training program at a POST approved Police Academy for a period of approximately 5 months. SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under close supervision participates in a comprehensive training program at a POST approved police academy. This temporary class provides an opportunity for persons to achieve the academic and physical training required for appointment to the position of Police Officer. Appointment in this position is generally limited to the duration of the Police Academy. Academic progress and physical achievement are closely monitored during this training period. Upon successful completion and graduation from the Police Academy, trainees may be appointed to the position of probationary Police Officer. However, successful completion of the Police Academy and this training program does not provide for automatic appointment. Extension beyond the academy period may only be made upon express authorization of the Chief of Police
EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS
Police Trainees are temporary employees assigned to the Police Department. Temporary employees are paid on an hourly basis and are not entitled to any of the fringe benefits applicable to regular employment. Temporary employment is subject to termination without appeal for any of the following reasons:
* Failure to show acceptable progress while attending the Police Academy.
* Failure to follow departmental rules, regulations or safety procedures.

Makes field and emergency repairs on traffic signal equipment, such as signal heads, traffic signal standards, detector loops, video detection and controllers;
Assists with relocations and modifications of traffic signals and electronic equipment at street intersections;
Installs street traffic detectors, video cameras, pedestrian push button units, safety lights and large illuminated traffic signs;
Turns on and tests traffic signals and makes timing adjustments;
Cleans, tests, repairs, and overhauls controllers, coordinators, program clocks, computers, and other electric and electronic equipment in the shop;

The Inspector I is the entry level class in the inspection series. Positions in the class perform the more routine inspections as incumbents develop inspection techniques, procedures, and record keeping practices. Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine through complex inspections of private and public construction projects, parks, facilities and trails development and landscape, inspecting materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with approved plans and specifications or maintenance contract provisions, inspect conditions prior to the start of construction or landscaping, during construction or landscaping, and upon completion.
As assigned, act as lead project inspector and assist in administration of contracts for construction and landscape maintenance projects, change order and amendments; negotiate and submit recommended change orders; review, project and prepare payment tracking records.
Read and interpret plans and specifications and recommend modifications when needed.
Note contract deficiencies and issue compliance deficiency notices to contractors requiring modifications to work in progress.
Review, correct, and ensure completeness of construction and landscape plan submittals and as-built plans.
Maintain records of inspection work.
Enforce on-site safety requirements.
Assist in the development of maintenance agreements, public works projects, letters of agreement and other contracts.
Recommend and execute allowable extensions for contractor projects and maintenance agreements.
Authorize and amend contracted work items including enhancements or refurbishments projects.
Issue monthly contractor ratings; recommend termination of service and maintenance contracts when contractors do not perform satisfactorily; recommend and take necessary actions to ensure retention of monies for poor contract performance.
Instruct, direct and supervise subordinate staff involved in the process of contract administration and project management.
Respond to and resolve citizen complaints.

Qualifications
Knowledge of:

Inspector I
Two years of construction or maintenance work, and six months of contract inspection experience, in the areas of construction, facilities maintenance, and/or landscape maintenance.
Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by specialized training in construction or landscape development or horticultural design or park maintenance. Completion of two years of college-level landscape or horticulture or park design courses may substitute for one year of experience.
Inspector II
Any combination equivalent to experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, and abilities are qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Two years of inspection similar to that of a Parks Inspector I at the City of Carlsbad. Education and equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in Public Works, engineering, construction, facilities, street maintenance or landscape development or horticultural design or park maintenance. Completion of two years of college-level engineering, landscape or horticulture or park design courses may substitute for one year of experience in applicable area.
