Your Impact * Support the delivery and execution of project scope, objectives, and requirements, ensuring close collaboration and alignment with clients and stakeholders. Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues. Ensure project deliverables meet high-quality standards and specified requirements. Implement rigorous quality review processes, manage version controls, and track comments and resolutions. Who You Are Required Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology, preferred, or equivalent years of experience. * 12+ years of progressive experience in traffic, ITS, & safety planning, analysis, and design. * Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York, or another state and able to obtain reciprocity in New York State within 6 months of hire. PTOE certification (highly preferred). * Proven experience managing complex projects with budgets, schedules, and technical requirements. * Proven experience with NYSDOT, MTA, and other regional agencies. * Develop new project opportunities, manage client relationships, and prepare and manage proposal submissions * Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills. * Exceptional communication abilities including written, verbal, and public speaking. * Demonstrated success in proposal writing, client presentations, and strategic project delivery. * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. * Passion for innovation, quality, and financial performance * Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies. * Strong ability to quickly adapt to change and demonstrate flexibility to a variety of schedules and hours to meet business needs. * Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements. The successful candidate will be an important part of a team imagining the next generation of theater training in a dynamic, collegial department. The Technical Director supports the department's mission, overseeing the department scene shop and all scenic construction in order to deliver quality scenery safely, within resources, and on time for 4-6 mainstage shows. The Technical Director also teaches courses in stagecraft and theater technology, as well as mentoring students in these disciplines. The Technical Director supervises the scene shop staff, including student workers, and collaborates closely with other departments and areas. Essential functions and requirements: Embrace collaboration with the Production Manager and professional production staff, coordinating scenic work within production and season priorities. Work alongside BA and MFA students, to train and mentor them in a collaborative, hands-on working environment. Manage and supervise scene shop staff. Work closely with the scenic design professor and student and guest scenic designers during all stages of the design process. Transform designer ideas into technical drawings, advising and collaborating with designers as to feasibility, within financial, human and time resources. Oversee graduate and undergraduate student workers. Oversee the scene shop budget, including timely ordering and purchasing of materials and equipment. Track and report all expenses, following UMass budget management procedures, in collaboration with the Managing Director and Business Manager. Prioritize sustainability and reuse in all aspects of scenic construction and implementation. Create project-management plans and timelines for the construction and implementation of scenic elements related to mainstage shows and other auxiliary events. Teach a course every semester in stagecraft, theater technology, or a related field, in a way that supports and enriches the department's BA curriculum. Foster a culture of safety in the shop, instructing students and staff on safe procedures in all aspects of theater technology. Typical work activities will include: * Assist SES in marketing presentations with prospective clients. In conjunction with the SES business development team, maintain a database of completed projects that can be used as references and examples to help secure future work. * Assist in proposal preparation and in bid preparation as appropriate, including suggesting innovative and cutting edge technologies as possible solutions. * Manage the data that has been and will be obtained through design mix studies and quality control (QC) sampling on soil mixing projects. Prepare data summaries that can be used by SES to plan solutions for future work. Publish technical sheets, articles and technical papers that can enhance the technical reputation of SES. * Manage laboratory design mix studies that are intended to find the best combination of reagents to meet project-specific completion criteria for physical and/or chemical performance. Prepare data summaries and reports as required for projects. These studies may occur in the SES lab or in outside labs. * Interface with on-going soil mixing projects and be able to contribute to identifying, understanding, and resolving problems as they may occur in the field. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE: Successful candidate must have an advanced (Master's or higher) degree in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering, Geochemistry, or Chemical Engineering; minimum five years of experience working with a contractor specializing in soil mixing technologies or an engineering firm that designs and oversees such work. Other job requirements include: * Previously responsible for managing at least ten (10) complex laboratory design mix studies to achieve project-specific physical and/or chemical performance standards. * Previously responsible for the design and/or execution of at least five (5) large-scale soil mixing projects that involve the use of backhoes, drill rigs, or similar equipment to accomplish ISS, ISCO, or DSM on projects with complex mixtures of underground chemical hazardous wastes. * A good communicator, comfortable and effective with dealing with SES employees at all levels, as well as our clients and representatives of engineering firms and government agencies that may have influence on our work.
