Members 1st FCU company history timeline

1950

In 1950, John's idea of helping local firefighters with their finances grew and the credit union officially moved into Manchester's City Hall on Elm Street.

1951

Members 1st Credit Union was chartered in 1951 as a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative with staff and management committed to serving members' financial needs.

1954

Members First Credit Union originally organized as the Sub-Zero Credit Union in May of 1954 with 13 employees as members.

UFCW started in 1954 to provide financial services to a striking butcher’s union.

1955

The credit union became chartered in 1955 with the following board members.

1958

California State University, Chico Employees Credit Union was established February 24, 1958 by four Chico State University professors to serve faculty and staff of Chico State and neighboring schools.

1959

At the first Annual Meeting, held February 17, 1959, deposits totaled $14,765.98 and loans totaled $13,523.15.

By July 1959, the Credit Union had rented office space at Forest and Main in Brigham City.

1963

1963 – The Credit Union graduated to “modern office equipment and our offices moved from the Robinson’s home, to the Doerr’s home, and then to the home of Beverly Brown.

1967

In 1967, the Credit Union name was officially changed to Thiokol Employees Credit Union.

1975

In November, 1975, the Credit Union built and moved into a brand new building located at 20 West 700 North.

1979

Membership and assets grew substantially from the original 13 to 262 members at the end of 1979, as well as increasing the assets from $32 to $194,540.

1980

1980 – Our longest serving Board member is Beverly Brown, with 42 years of service.

1981

After 31 years of continuous growth and popularity, the need for a more spacious facility became apparent, so in 1981 the credit union moved out of City Hall to 44 Bridge Street in Manchester.

1985

In 1985, he was elected to the Board of Directors.

1985 – Our first property and building was located on South Delsea Drive.

1986

In February 1986 the Board voted to open membership to the community, rather than just to Thiokol employees.

1986 – The credit union name was changed to CUMCO Federal Credit Union to reflect our expanded Cumberland County field of membership.

1988

In 1988, the Credit Union built and moved into a new, modern facility located at 707 N Main Street.

1990

In August of 1990, with all of the mergers, the credit union was no longer just for Sub-Zero employees and it was time to change the name to Members First Credit Union.

1994

A second Manchester office was opened at 200 Union Street in 1994 to serve the growing municipal employee workforce.

1995

In 1995, the name was changed to Members First Credit Union.

1996

1996 – Our current Chief Executive Officer, Eileen Crean, joined us in 1996 and has been instrumental in increasing services, bringing us through the technological jungle, and expanding our operations to include our main office in Vineland and two branch offices located in Bridgeton and Woodstown.

At the end of 1996, President Steve Christensen left the Credit Union and Brad Barber was named as President.

1997

When the credit union opened its charter in 1997 to allow anyone living or working within 25 miles of a branch to join, it changed its name to Members First Credit Union.

1999

In 1999 the Credit Union initiated a new Internet website and online account access - “eTeller”.

2000

2000 – The Delsea Drive location was sold and your credit union moved to our present main office location on Landis Avenue.

2002

The credit union later changed its name to STAR Community Credit Union in 2002 and served an expanding membership for more than 50 years with quality financial products and exceptional member service.

2005

In 2005, the Credit Union moved into a beautiful new building, located at 120 E 1000 S Brigham City, with 23 employees, over 10,500 members and assets in excess of $50 million dollars.

2007

In 2007, the Credit Union opened a new full service branch on 1000 South in Tremonton, Utah.

2010

2010 – Members 1st of NJ FCU hosted a Grand Reopening of its new Vineland Office in November of 2010.

2016

In 2016, a branch was opened in Bedford about a mile from the Walsh family homestead.

2017

In 2017, the Credit Union opened a new full service branch in Providence, Utah.

2019

Members First expanded its field of membership in 2019 to serve anyone living, working or attending school in New Hampshire.

2021
