In this role you will support safe and efficient plant operations by operating turbine and boiler auxiliary equipment. Responsibilities include monitoring, inspecting, and adjusting equipment, performing housekeeping, and recording equipment readings. What you'll be doing: Under the direction of Management and/or Control Room Operator, safely and efficiently perform work in the plant, outside structures and buildings. Operate the turbine and boiler auxiliary equipment including but not limited to, the following systems: ash removal, soot blowing, circulating water, hydrogen cooling, equipment lubricating, shot hopper cleaning, water treatment, building heating and cooling, CO2 purge and pumps, fans and compressors. The position is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. The intern will work under the direction of the Operations Superintendent and Results Lab Supervisor to learn power plant principles and power plant operations as well as gain knowledge of an industrial environment as it pertains to the power production industry by working closely with various trades. In a challenging and complex environment, the intern will gain valuable skills for working with a team of represented employees and managing the daily operations of a fossil-fueled power plant. The Intern will learn how the Results Lab supplies the plant with drinking water, and water to assist with firefighting. In addition, will learn about maintaining the boiler water & steam chemistry. The Intern will complete specific projects that may include water sampling, cooling water supply, lab analysis samples, monitoring chlorine levels, and documentation updates. Education/Experience required: Must be currently enrolled in school and have completed 45 college credit hours. Preferred educational area of focus is on fields of science such as chemistry, biology, or physical science. As the Assistant Manager, Coal Yard Operations, you'll help ensure the safe, efficient, and continuous flow of fuel to our generating units. What you'll do: Promote and model a safety-first culture, ensuring compliance with OSHA, plant safety protocols, and environmental standards. Lead and develop union and non-union staff to maintain 24/7 coal yard operations, including scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluation. Oversee coal deliveries, storage, and conveyor operations to ensure a consistent and reliable fuel supply. Direct preventive maintenance efforts and daily scheduling to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime. Collaborate with plant departments and support continuous improvement projects that enhance coal handling efficiency and reliability. What you'll need: High school diploma or GED. 5+ years of coal yard or equivalent industrial experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role. Knowledge of coal yard operations, conveyor systems, heavy equipment, and Powder River Basin coal is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS tools; ability to learn AECI-specific systems.
