We are looking for a PC Support Technician to join our collaborative team at Memorial Health!
What You'll Do:
Instructs and trains end users in proper use of hardware, software, applications, operating systems, network shares, web based applications and manuals; answers end users' inquires; diagnoses hardware, software, operating system, application and operator problems; recommends or performs remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of hardware, software, operating system, web site or application operation.
Replaces or repairs defective, inadequate, non-functioning or broken hardware components and software applications; repairs or reloads defective or non-functioning operating systems; refers major hardware, software or operating system problems to outside service personnel for correction.
Provides support for all hospital enterprise applications; responsible for the administration of all hospital enterprise applications including installation, upgrading, patching, performance monitoring and troubleshooting; acts as the liaison with various application vendors to solve problems and test the applications in house; will work with the Server Administrators to schedule all application updates and to ensure that all hardware and software prerequisites are in place prior to application installation or upgrading.
Inspects computer equipment and prepares computer for delivery to end user; installs and maintains hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, mice, scanners, printers and disk drives; loads specified software packages such as operating system, word processing, spreadsheet and all hospital specific enterprise applications.
Provides technical support responding to the needs and questions of end users regarding their access to resources on the network or network shared devices.
Assists in the installation, upgrading and configuration of network printing, directory structures, rights, security and software on the file server or other network shared devices.
Provides support for all of the hospitals interfaces; responsible for maintaining all interfaces within the interface engine.

Writes and updates the necessary procedures for hardware, software, operating system, and enterprise applications.
Responds to emergencies outside normal working hours in regard to maintenance of systems and/or applications.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Director of Coding Assurance - Compliance, the Manager of Hospital Coding Assurance is responsible for executing the Wellstar Health System Compliance Plan within the Coding Assurance Compliance Team. This person will lead WellStar's Inpatient and Outpatient Coding auditors in proactively identifying risk and addressing compliance issues as they pertain to coding/billing within the Wellstar Inpatient / Outpatient hospital populations. This department conducts regular audits and monitors activities to promote compliance with federal regulations related to the Federal Healthcare Programs (i.e. Medicare and Medicaid and others). This team provides compliance education with an emphasis on coding and billing regulations for Hospital services in Wellstar facilities. This person will coordinate the above audits/education, research and respond to compliance and other coding / billing related questions and prepare communication/responses both in verbal and in written formats. This person will be responsible for coordinating internal reviews, compliance training as well as targeted educational programs throughout each year. This team will look for trends in coding and billing patterns and provide comparative benchmarking to ensure optimal reimbursement while remaining in compliance with published guidelines and regulations. This person must be able to work independently, motivate a strong team, and must have professional communication skills both verbally and in writing.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Manage Hospital Coding Assurance Audit Process - Implement and maintain audit controls and measurements for internal processes. - Develop management reports showing the results of the audit process. Works with the Director of Hospital Coding Assurance, Coding leadership, and other departmental leads as appropriate in developing action plans and follow-up initiatives to address the opportunities identified through the annual audit process. - Develop training and educational material associated with identified risk or audit findings. - Assist Director in providing oversight and leadership surrounding external audits. - Ensure correct processes are in place for accurate, complete and compliant coding/billing across hospital billing to include but not limited to the following: - Billing for items or services not rendered or not provided as claimed - Submitting claims that are not reasonable and necessary - Billing for non-covered services as if covered - Identification of risk areas involving Inpatient Admission criteria - Unbundling - Failure to properly use modifiers - Submitting claims with diagnoses / procedures not documented in the medical record Upcoding / overcoding / undercoding - Failure to apply correct coding practices for Inpatient populations Manages communication from the Hospital Coding Assurance Team to Compliance and Coding leadership: - Chart documentation deficiencies and opportunities for improvement that may result in over coding and/or under coding - Trends in RAC or other governmental audit findings - Federal and state regulations governing billing (medical necessity, Inpatient Admission Criteria, etc) - National/Local Coverage Determination and Official Coding Guideline reviews appropriate for the procedure /test in question - Trends in denials - Results of benchmark comparisons such as PEPPER reports. - Claim issues involving hospital services (may need to incorporate other departments such as: PFS, Revenue Management, and other hospital departments as needed) Assists the Coding Assurance Director in developing, coordinating, and management of Annual Audit plan - Reviews OIG annual workplan - Identifies areas of focus related to WellStar services - Works with management teams in focus areas to complete risk assessment - Consolidates findings and creates recommendations for presentation to executive leadership team - Conducting investigations surrounding reports of coding/billing violations or other compliance related issues . - Assist with the development of corrective action plans. - Ensure the appropriate disclosures are completed and submitted. Communication of new/revised regulations/requirements - Provide support and guidance regarding implementation of new regulations as related to site dpts - Provide support and guidance regarding action plans for deficiencies - Provide regular updates to Administrator, Directors, medical staff, and managers regarding - regulatory requirements and continuous monitoring - Maintains active issues log to ensure timely response, resolution, and follow-up Requests and collects data on population for sampling - Analyzes data and selects sample - Utilizes Microsoft Access and Excel to collect/analyze/report findings/trends - Creates executive summary with findings and recommendations. References governmental regulations where needed. - Conducts exit conference with staff, physician, and executive leadership team when appropriate - Works with external agencies to coordinate/review documentation supporting services provided and billed - Prepares disclosure documentation as needed - Manages organizational structure supporting review functions - Performs complex data analytics Provides Education - Provides post review follow-up education with WellStar employees, management and physicians - Provides education on new releases from Medicare and Medicaid - Answers compliance/documentation/coding/billing questions via e-mail - Maintains education log - Provides 3rd-party software training, support, and guidance for team member audit functions Coordinates Internal Process for Medicare Recovery Audit Contractor (RAC) and other Governmental Focused Reviews - Facilitates the Recovery Audit Contractor software implementation and response team. - Develops workflows, policies and procedures, and the communication plans to prepare and manage the RAC requests and denials. - Monitors overall effect of RAC on the WellStar facilities and reports results of requests, denials, appeals, risks, and opportunities on a regular basis to leadership. - Develops action plans and coordinates multidisciplinary teams for performance improvement. - Assumes a leadership role with the interdisciplinary teams to achieve optimal outcomes (includes RAC Task Force). - Analyzes RAC data to determine trends in documentation, coding, billing to improve organizational practices, policies and procedures, and to maintain integrity and compliance with all federal programs.

Billing Functions
Ensures insurance claims are sent timely and accurately to government, commercial and managed care plans, adhering to payer timely filing requirements
Researches and resolves claim edits via Epic Work Queues (WQ) and/or external billing software, including electronic and paper processing
Prepares and processes secondary and tertiary insurance claims completing coordination of benefit tables accurately reflecting prior payer reimbursement
Ensures compliance and billing requirements for Worker's Compensation (WC) and third-party liability claims are met

What You'll Do:

Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs. Must be dependable, accountable and cooperative. Assists with providing safe, age appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams provided by the department according to department procedures. Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study. Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the utilization of the equipment for the diagnosis and/or treatment of diseases. Able to independently perform job functions. Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions patient for the procedure. Works with students during their clinical rotation.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
Equipment
- Demonstrates the ability to adjust technique so that patient receives the lowest possible dose of ionizing radiation and that image quality is maintained.
- Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment to supervisor or service provider, so that problem can be corrected in a timely manner.
- Cleans, disinfects and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policy and department schedule.
- Ability to operate all aspects of the system.
- Ability to operate all radiographic equipment in a safe and competent manner. Assuring that equipment is not abused and is left in good working order. Patient Care
- Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
- Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast medias so that no patient condition deteriorates, and no patient suffers undue pain, due to error or poor technique if applicable.
- Ensures that all studies have proper patient identification and right and left marker are utilized appropriately.
- Reviews radiographic images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
- Responds to emergency situations and provides for the restocking of the crash cart and maintenance of life support equipment if applicable.
- Assists other technologists in all modalities when needed if applicable.
- Observes patient condition and properly evaluates situations when physician intervention is necessary so that no patient condition deteriorates as the result of misjudgment.
- Verifies two unique patient identifiers and correct clinical order prior to performing a procedure per policy.
- Ensures patient's privacy and comfort is accommodated.
- Demonstrates competence in the determination and application of appropriate procedures, equipment, supplies and techniques based on the age of patients.
- Organizes schedule, time and priorities so that required activities are accomplished within designated time frames.

- Ensures that patient's questions, concerns or contraindications are satisfactorily addressed, notifying physician when this cannot be accomplished, prior to the initiation of the procedure.
- Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
- Provides patients with preparatory instruction and explanation of procedures.
- Required documentation is concise, legible and includes precise terminology.
- Reads email each day scheduled to work and follows through with assignment.
- Completes mandatory departmental and Hospital-wide education without prompting. Quality Control
- Consistently produces high quality images including appropriate collimation, shielding, technique selection, penetration and positioning.
- Ensures that equipment is fully operational prior to each use, by checking for proper calibration and operating deficiencies.
- Sends all studies to PACS; prints CD's as necessary. All exams are complete in RIS including image oriented, marked, labeled, and notes are accurate.
- Studies that have been transmitted after hours by teleradiography are printed and scanned into PACS, if applicable.
- Checks for prior exams and assures that they are loaded, if necessary, and properly labeled prior to sending to PACS. Operations
- Restocks linens and supplies, and maintains Diagnostic Imaging Services in clean and orderly condition.
- Transports patients, positions patients, and helps them on and off procedure table.
- Performs patient charging activities on the day the service is rendered.
- Applies shielding, supportive and immobilization devices and equipment.
- Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others upon request as needed and routinely as time is available, without prompting, so that all working time is used for departmental advantage.
- Performs routine duties of clerical and support personnel in accordance with procedure when warranted to
- ensure continuity and quality of services.
- Keeps supervisor informed on all responsibilities on an ongoing basis, ensuring prompt notification in the event of problems or potential problems.
- Maintains an individual productivity rate equal to other co-workers.
- Maintains Joint Commission and any other regulatory agency standards.
- Ability to transfer / retrieve images on the PACS system.
- Takes call when necessary.
