Position Summary
This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The PatientCare Technician II is an unlicensed caregiver working under the direction of the Registered Nurse. This position is responsible for supporting the Oncology/General Surgery Unit to maintain smooth, effective communication between healthcare practitioners, departments, patients, and visitors. The PatientCare Technician II position is accountable for the accurate, timely documentation in the patient medical record. Ensures prompt, timely assistance which contributes to the patient's progress towards discharge. This role is accountable for patient admission, transfer, discharge flow processes, and for providing the most basic of patientcare. including data collection, personal hygiene, vital sign measurement and assistance with activities of daily living.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Demonstrates knowledge of the clinical and information technology systems
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees
Manages and acknowledges patient-family-significant other expectations to create positive experiences
Follows directions and communicates with the registered nurse and other members of the healthcare team in an organized, clear and timely manner
Collects and documents information pertinent to the patient's status in the patient's electronic medical record and notifies the registered nurse of changes in patient's condition
Demonstrates the ability to safely maintain and competently use equipment in the delivery of patientcare
Ability to be at work and be on time.
Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives.
Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. This is a benefit-eligible, full-time position (72 hours every two weeks), working 12-hour night shifts (6:30pm - 7:00am) on various days and located at Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas in the Medical Acute 2 South unit.

The ideal candidate will be someone who is self-motivated and committed to providing exceptional patientcare. In this role you will be assistingpatients with their activities of daily living, performing vital signs, and performing EKGs. This 32 bed unit hosts primarily a patient population of medical, telemetry, and stroke patients. We are looking for someone who is looking to can work efficiently and collaborate as a team.
The general duties of the PatientCareAssistant include:
* Provides excellent service to patients as a key member of the clinical care team
* Assistspatients with personal needs and activities of daily living, collects data, and ensures the patient has a safe, organized environment
* Assists with patientcare within the scope permitted and under the direction of a clinician
* Supports the unit with a variety of patient logistic, clerical, equipment/supply, and charge reconciliation duties
Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills:
* One year of recent experience working under the license of an licensed healthcare provider OR current enrollment or completion of Nursing Assistant training from a recognized school OR current enrollment in an RN program with completion of the second semester, including nursing fundamentals
* Must be able to speak, read and follow instruction in English
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a service aptitude

$1,500 signing bonus available to external hires new to MHS employment, contingent upon satisfaction of employment requirements.

Position Summary
Under direct supervision of licensed personnel, the PatientCareAssistant is responsible for performing activities of daily living for patients and generally assist with the unit activities that support patientcare in the Cardiac Monitor Unit at MemorialCare Long Beach Medical Center. The PatientCareAssistant facilitates a safe, clean working environment and contributes to the health and safety of patients.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Under the supervision of licensed personnel, performs patientcare activities as identified on PatientCareAssistant competency checklist.
· Recognizes and reports changing patientcare needs to the registered nurse.
· Documents findings and maintains privacy in patient's medical record in compliance with unit specific standards and systems.
· Provides emotional and physical comfort to patients and provides a safe environment for patients. Responsible for maintenance of the department equipment, reporting and follow-up of equipment in need of repairs
*Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities.

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
Experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
Certified Nursing Assistants with 3 years of experience in an acute care facility or 5 years or experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility or sub-acute setting or Nursing students actively enrolled in a nursing program who have completed the first semester of the nursing program.
Education/Licensure/Certification:
A current American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) certification is required
High school diploma or equivalency
Basic computer knowledge preferred
