We invite you to join Scripps Memorial La Jolla, a nationally recognized heart care leader. The CCT / ECMO Specialist / CVICU RN is a hybrid role that is a part of our highly engaged Model Care Team, focused on excellent standardized practices and evidence-based patient-centered care.
The CCT RN provides therapeutic and emergency interventions, and efficiently executes critical care level transports of Scripps patients throughout San Diego County. The RN must communicate effectively and work collaboratively with outside institutions/agencies, including hospitals and EMS, while maintaining contact with patients, families, referring facility staff and public safety personnel during and after contact to provide continuous loop closure and information sharing.
The RN is engaged in Scripps Memorial La Jolla's 29-bed CVICU and provides patient care on shifts they are not the CCT RN in order to maintain clinical proficiencies and patient management experience. The CVICU specializes in caring for acute patients with a variety of disease states. As a destination center for higher level of cardiac care in Southern California, CVICU implements progressive programs and therapies such as:
Cardiac surgery
Heart failure, shock, advanced resuscitation measures
Mechanical circulatory support
ECMO, LVAD, Impella, Tandem Heart, IABP, CRRT
This role is also expected to provide ECMO Specialist services. Focusing on ECMO patients, the ECMO Specialist will practice standards based on the ELSO Guidelines. They will work collaboratively with the ECMO Team including Physicians and Perfusionists.
In addition, the Critical Care Transport / ECMO Specialist / CVICU RN represents the Transport Team as a customer service ambassador for Scripps Health. They maintain a professional demeanor at all times and support hospital units as a resource for education and patient care while not on active transport. What you will do:
Preform Primary nursing care for patients undergoing Orthopedic, Vascular, GI, GU, GYN surgeries • Assessments, medication administration (Pyxis and Omnicell), wound care, management of lines/ drains/ tubes • Monitor patient progress, laboratory values, vital signs, symptoms, telemetry/ EKG readings • Patient and family education • Collaboration with physicians, PT, OT, case managers, nursing assistants, and various health care team members to achieve optimal patient care • Documentation of patient care, medication administration, care team communication through electronic medical records EPIC system.

Position Summary
This position would have 24/7 accountability and direct oversight of the nurse practitioners in the trauma department. This position coordinates the implementation of a program and service consistent with the Mission of LBMC. The incumbent is knowledgeable of the strategic, financial, marketing and customer business plans for the Nurse Practitioner Hospitalist Service with both local and if appropriate corporate support staff. The incumbent supports management in achieving desired clinical outcomes and service in an efficient and fiscally resilient manner within assigned areas of responsibility. Maintains currency in clinical care, regulatory requirements and reimbursement patterns.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job
Effectively organizes the provision of the NP programs in an efficient and cost effective manner ensuring a high quality program is maintained
Responsible for NP program development
Acts as a consultant/liaison with other departments, care lines, service lines, and hospitals demonstrating communication and leadership
Responsible for monitoring the financial performance of the NP program services
Develops the Business Plan to include a marketing plan for NP program and monitors reports on its progress
Manages assigned Human Resources for NPs
Ensures customer satisfaction with NP program
Measures physician satisfaction annually within the NP program

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications/Work Experience:
Minimum 3 years of active practice as a nurse practitioner
Prior nursing leadership experience
Demonstrated leadership skills
Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills
Ability to adapt to emergency situations
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Current California RN and NP, or PA License required
Masters Required, or Doctoral Degree Preferred
Experience in pediatric population
Experience in Trauma care
