The Memphis Theological Seminary is an ecumenical Protestant seminary
that strives to provide theological education for future church leaders
throughout the world. The seminary is an institution of the Cumberland
Presbyterian Church. Rooted in Christianity, the seminary seeks to foster
a love for scholarship, piety, and justice. Admissions requirements include: * A bachelor's degree with a GPA of at least 2.5 * Three reference forms: one from a clergy member, one from a
layperson, and one from a academician * A personal typed essay of three to five pages detailing a narrative
of your spiritual journey, reasons for wanting to study at the
seminary, and a personal perception of key issues surrounding the
church today The seminary offers a Master's of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees
for ordained ministry. It also offers a Master's of Arts in Religion
degree for lay ministry. Since the seminary is currently listed as an approved academic education
provided by the National Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse, it also
offers a graduate certificate program in Drug and Alcohol Addiction
Counseling. This is an 18-credit, six-course program that can be
completed in one year. Unique to the seminary is a Theology and Arts Institute, designed to
prepare students with strong artistic backgrounds to incorporate
