The Research Grant Specialist works with Principal Investigator (PI) to complete and submit federal and non- federal grants and serves as the liaison between department or research groups and sponsored research funds administration, accounting, and finance departments. This role generally performs all Pre- and Post- award administrative functions, including, but not limited to, ensuring internal documents are prepared and routed for signature and processing, monitoring grant accounts, tracking all expenses, providing grant and financial reconciliation, and research-related financial reporting. Ensures compliance with all internal policies, federal and local agency requirements including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and local Institutional Review Board.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
May contribute content to standard sections of grant applications.
Monitors Time & Effort for accurate reporting and performs necessary funding corrections via direct cost transfer requests.
Responsible for grant close-out.
Finds opportunities for research funding opportunities.
May negotiate budgets for clinical trials.
May assist with research participant billing.
Maintains research practices using Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
Maintains strict patient confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations and applicable law.
Participates in required training and education programs.
This role follows a hybrid work schedule; however, we can only consider applicants who will be able to commute to our Los Angeles work location a few times per week. If hired you must reside in the commutable area.
Qualifications
Education:
High School Diploma/GED is required.
Bachelor's degree is preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
Specialty research certification (CRA/CPRA/CFRA/SoCRA) is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
3 years of proven experience in administration of research grants.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills and proven understanding of federal and major funding agency grant submission guidelines.
Experience working with multi-PI proposals.
Experience with preparation of general grant submission components, including the preparation of progress and financial reports, scientific manuscripts and abstracts.
Proficiency with eRA commons, grants.gov, NIH Reporter, Federal Reporter, and other related proposal submission systems.
Experience in a basic laboratory environment or a sponsored research office strongly preferred.

Cedars-Sinai is seeking a Clinical Research Finance Coordinator II (Pre-Award) to join our dynamic research team. In this role, you will be responsible for the financial management of clinical research studies during the pre-award phase. You will collaborate with principal investigators and study teams to develop and negotiate budgets, review contracts, and ensure compliance with institutional and sponsor regulations. This position requires strong attention to detail and expertise in research finance to support the successful launch of clinical studies.
The Clinical Research Budget Coordinator II develops complex clinical trial budgets for industry, National Institutes of Health (NIH), and investigator-initiated clinical research. Evaluates research protocols to assess resource needs, procedures, clinical research staff time, investigator time, and costs from ancillary departments. Determines cost allocation, negotiates budgets, details budgets, and responsible for monitoring accounts and invoicing. Ensures compliance with all federal and local agencies including the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and local Institutional Review Board.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Works closely with investigators and ancillary departments to identify research procedures needed, budget estimates and cost details.
Evaluates complex research protocols to assess resource needs, research procedures, clinical research staff time, investigator time, and costs from ancillary departments.
Determines whether research procedures in the protocol are standard-of-care or a research-related costs in order to correctly classify expenses.
Develops complex clinical trial budgets for industry and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) as well as investigator-initiated clinical research. Works with the CSMC office of Sponsored Research to develop final budgets for clinical trials and research projects.
Negotiates trial budgets and payment terms with industry sponsors.
Monitors study accounts to evaluate the cost expenses/details are appropriate and within expected limits, reconciles accounts receivable and payments, and recommends the best course of action for any deficits and/or surpluses. Negotiates with sponsors the final payment due for account closeout. May conduct review and/or audits of clinical trial budgets. Serves as a resource for fiscal related questions and engages management as appropriate.
Responsible for invoicing sponsors, patient research billing, reimbursement to ancillary departments, and payment tracking. Issues and submits invoices for protocol-related items and patient-related expenses per the executed contract and internal invoices for staff time and effort allocation into study accounts. Works with sponsors and clinical teams to resolve queries regarding invoices and/or payments due.
Extracts and defines relevant information, analyzes and interprets data to determine financial performance and/or to project a financial probability and makes recommendations to influence business results. Prepares and delivers data, reports and/or presentations to investigators, management and/or leadership.
Enters financial information from finalized clinical trials budgets and clinical trial agreements into the Clinical Trial Management System. Reviews and finalizes clinical trials calendars to ensure agreement with Medicare coverage analysis and clinical trial budget.
Performs Medicare coverage analysis for clinical trials and collaborates with Institutional Review Board (IRB) to finalize and obtain approval.
Reviews protocol amendments for impact to sponsored research budget/contract. Process budget/contract amendments as applicable.
May provide training and education to other personnel.
May plan and coordinate strategies to improve existing standard operating procedures related to budgeting and clinical trials finance. May identify quality and performance improvement opportunities and collaborate with staff in the development of action plans to improve quality.
Qualifications
To be considered for the Clinical Research Finance Coordinator II (Pre-Award) position, applicants must have direct experience in a clinical research setting. This role requires a understanding of the financial aspects of clinical trials, including budget preparation, funding management, and financial reporting, all within the context of research projects. The annual salary range for this role is $145,000 - $155,000/year, with a variable bonus, based on performance. Position Overview

Summary

Primary Duties
* Manages and supports call flow on the Crisis Line.
* Ensures the crisis counselors and volunteers follow program standards, contracts, policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Listens and monitors volunteers and crisis counselor calls.

**Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
The Director of Government and External Relations will manage successful statewide relations at all levels of government and among community leaders, state trade associations and other external constituents of importance to implement the state and federal public policy and advocacy agenda of Bon Secours Mercy Health (BSMH) within the State of South Carolina. The Director will report to the System Chief Advocacy & Government Relations Officer while supporting the priorities of internal CEOs in Greenville and in Charleston to effectively advocate and manage external relations with statewide influence. In addition, engaging internal subject matter experts across the spectrum of BSMH is essential. This will ensure an evidence-based approach to developing legislative, regulatory and community solutions on matters such as public program funding for patient care and workforce development affecting clinical operations and external relations priorities across the State of South Carolina.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Support system-wide legislative, regulatory and advocacy priorities in the State of South Carolina through effective internal and external relations management, including, but not limited to community leaders, trade associations, and government officials. The Director will serve on the Advocacy & Government Relations Committee and Government Reimbursement Council at the system level while developing a strategic statewide vision to achieve goals and objectives that are reflective of the communities we serve and support the current and future needs of BSMH throughout the State of South Carolina.
+ Manage government relations/advocacy agenda on a statewide basis as directed and ensure implementation of system and local priorities in Greenville and in Charleston with internal key stakeholders.
+ Foster and influence relationships throughout the state and in concert with internal regional stakeholders that result in favorable legislative & regulatory outcomes and build strategic alliances to augment external reputational management and system growth.
+ Enhance Bon Secours Mercy Health's public reputation as a relied upon and trusted resource by identifying public and private sector community-based interfaces and partnerships throughout our service areas.
+ Provide legislative, regulatory and health industry intelligence to inform strategic impact analyses in concert with internal content experts that lead to politically viable solutions for the future success of our health system.
+ Identify opportunities to coordinate appropriate Advocacy interface with internal Mission, Foundation, Community Health and Marketing/Communication leader(s) in regional coalitions and partnerships, and to assure adequate representation of the ministry on related issues in the communities we serve.
+ Create effective grass-tops and grassroots support and mobilization, and strong trade association and business organization relations with an emphasis on those organizations where BSMH personnel serve in a board or committee capacity.
+ Identify opportunities to organize grass-tops network and mobilize internal grassroots support for legislative and advocacy issues when appropriate.
+ Champion internal process to develop action plan for executive and clinician engagement on government matters, as well as governmental, industry trade / business organization, and community boards of interest.
+ Partner with internal Foundation personnel to identify local, state and federal grant opportunities to address various community health needs.
+ Lead and manage local market / regional Advocacy outreach in Greenville and in Charleston through education and lobbying strategies with designated internal personnel to realize a positive impact and favorable outcome for legislative & regulatory policy issues and external relations more broadly.
+ Maintain registration as a state lobbyist on behalf of BSMH and ensure compliance of all related reporting requirements.
**Employment Qualifications**
+ **Required Minimum Education:** Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Public Administration, Journalism or related degree
+ **Preferred Education:** Master's Degree
+ **Minimum Years and Type of Experience** : 5-7 years in an external relations capacity
+ **Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** **Required:** Effective communicator with excellent interpersonal relationship skills, understanding of government, and strategic agility to collaborate in a complex organization
