Job Summary
The Health Research and Analytics (HRA) business line is seeking a highly motivated, full-time Psychological/MentalHealth Technician to join our team in support of our government customer, U.S. Special Operations Command. This position will play a critical role in advancing the Preservation of the Forces and Family (POTFF) program, which is dedicated to optimizing and sustaining the mission readiness, longevity, and performance of Special Operations Forces (SOF). Through integrated and holistic human performance initiatives, POTFF strengthens both the Forces and their families, ensuring comprehensive support for those who serve. Responsibilities
Assist with the management and treatment of outpatient behavioral health activities
Under the supervision of a licensed psychiatrist, social worker, psychiatric nurse or psychologist, responsible for providing a wide range of behavioral health interventions from prevention to treatment to individuals
Under the supervision of a credentialed provider, conduct intakes, assist with care and treatment of psychiatric, drug and alcohol patients, and counsel clients/patients with personal, behavioral or psychological problems
Working independently, perform a full range of standard and nonstandard work assignments and resolve a variety of non-recurring problems encountered on own initiative
Assign work by defining objectives, priorities, and deadlines, and provides guidance on assignments that do not have clear precedents

Observe patients to detect behavior patterns and reports observations to licensed behavioral health staff

Depending on the location and type of assignment, perform one or more of the following tasks:
Conduct intake interviews under the supervision of a licensed mentalhealth professional
Administer psychological tests, compile data and prepare reports for psychological testing under the supervision of a licensed psychologist
Administer psychophysiological tests and assessments under the supervision of a licensed medical/mentalhealth professional
Populate and maintain a computerized database which will contain the listing of all units within the HQ organization and identify the number of service members assigned to each unit/Directorate to compile monthly training statistics
Prepare daily correspondence, i.e., training agendas, meeting agendas, purchase orders, clinical appointments
Collect and maintain monthly statistical data assigned workplace
Prepare and maintain attendance rosters and statistical data for all active-duty personnel who attended Social Work/Behavioral Health services
Assist in developing program operating instructions and work with providers to uncover inefficiencies and make recommendations for corrective action
Make comparison reviews, including office time sheets, to ensure program operations are managed within budget
Be responsible for the development and implementation of appointment templates for clinical providers
Place physical maintenance work orders and maintain hand receipts for physical property and inventory
Ensure proper supply stock levels and order specialized behavioral health forms and tests
Assist or independently gather data for various presentations such as process improvements initiatives, longitudinal statistical tracking, hospitalizations, and discharges
Manipulate data and present using software applications
Provide information via telephone and in person to the members of the Command, the professional staff, civilian and military personnel in response to inquiries regarding appointments
Interface frequently with the Command's family support organizations
Maintain competency folders in accordance with program policy
Coordinate attendance and agenda at Case Review Committee with military and civilian agencies
Coordinate and reserve meeting location, verify attendance and prepare current and tentative following week's agenda
Prepare open and closed case reports for required special handling of outpatient medical records in accordance with regulations
Maintain a resource library for use by professional staff and customers. Select library materials with the intent of providing knowledge, ideas and support to practitioners in the fields of education, clinical social work and family studies
Provide services to families desiring information on healthy family life and parenting skills
Key Qualifications
Associate degree or commensurate level of training, e.g. military mentalhealth technician, for a psychiatric technician or mentalhealth program assistant. Education requirement may be met by military or comparable training. If military trained, the individual's specialty must be as a mentalhealth technician/specialist.
At least three years' experience as a psychiatric technician
Possess a sound foundation/basis to psychology and/or social work
Possess knowledge of addressing the basics of conflict management and how to de-escalate crisis situations and individuals who are agitated, violent or potentially violent and/or suicidal
Prior training to intervene and, when required, to restrain violent or potentially violent or suicidal patients by verbal or physical means
Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) from the American Heart Association, with documentation provided
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES / ACTIVITIES
1. Engages with young people and/or families to prevent crisis situations by phone and on a walk-in basis. If a crisis situation is present, then initiates appropriate crisis intervention techniques.
2. Initiates the crisis intervention intake process with each youth who seeks admission to the Crisis program. Conducts risk assessment through completion of the intake process and assures youth meet admission criteria to complete admission to program.
3. Answers incoming phone calls to the Crisis Program. Communicates the purpose and benefits of the Crisis Program and other Huck House programs as applicable with callers. Provides resource information on other community programs as deemed necessary.
4. Provides crisis intervention and facilitates crisis groups to clients in the Crisis Program. Engages youth in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention when escalating behaviors in youth and/or families occur.
5. Accurately completes all required documentation and reporting within established timeframes.
6. Performs general housekeeping, cooking and other routine maintenance duties in the Crisis center as needed.
7. Attends and participates in bi-weekly team meetings and small group discussions.
8. Proactive and attentive to needs of youth, teammates, and program.
9. Completes other duties as assigned.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Primary Therapist assesses, diagnoses, and treats individuals experiencing mentalhealth disorders by providing counseling, support, and therapeutic interventions to improve their emotional well-being, manage symptoms, and develop coping mechanisms, through individual or group therapy sessions. Works with different client populations following the general directions of the clinical supervisor to deliver psychotherapy to assigned clients. Understands and utilizes established theoretical framework, as set forth by the various mentalhealth disciplines, to conceptualize and solve mentalhealth and substance abuse problems. Uses higher academic training as a basis to learn a wide variety of established mentalhealth and substance abuse techniques for clients and their families. May provide services via telehealth, in-person or in a school-based setting for youth and adolescents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Screens and completes diagnostic assessments independently or under supervision in accordance with licensure requirements. Make recommendations about patient's treatment needs based on screening and diagnostic assessment.
Employs a variety of treatment modalities including individual, group, and family therapy for adult, children, and adolescent populations. Ensures psychotherapeutic techniques and modalities are appropriately matched for clinical needs.
Develops the treatment plan with clients by assessing their strengths and weaknesses, defining their mentalhealth and substance abuse problems, and setting specific goals and objectives to be accomplished in the course of treatment.
Meets with their supervisor and with the treatment team to discuss a client's treatment process.
May provide crisis work with individuals, groups and families under supervision. Continuously and accurately assesses each client's potential for harming self or another to take appropriate action to prevent serious incidents from occurring.
Works with client families and social networks to accomplish the goals of treatment.
Consults with other community caregivers to strengthen and coordinate social intervention programming.
Charts the client's progress in the clinical record and completes all paperwork necessary by MHS policy for professional, administrative, financial, and evaluative purposes of monitoring clinical care and of assuring efficient and effective agency operations
Participates in quality improvement activities by reviewing the clinical charts, reviewing the criteria for admission/continued stay/discharge, performing patient care audits, and investigating adverse occurrences in treatment.
Screens for pain and encourage clients to follow up with a health care provider.
Reads relevant professional literature, attends conferences, seminars, workshops, and in-service training as required to remain current on best treatment protocols and techniques.
Is responsible for delivery of number of units of service budgeted in order to assure the fiscal viability of MHS.
Follows all universal precautions for safety, infection control and follows all state, federal and joint commission health and safety standards.
Treats clients and family with dignity and respect at all times and holds all patient information in the strictest confidence.
Adhere to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state and local requirements and Joint Commission standards, including National Patient Safety Goals. Presents a positive image of MHSCC to other community agencies, caregivers and citizens.

Overview
Under general direction, is responsible for professional correctional counseling work of average difficulty and related work as required. This is the working level class in the Correctional Counselor sub-series. An employee in this class supervises a caseload of incarcerated offenders inside a correctional facility. This class is flexibly staffed with and differs from the Correctional Counselor 1 in that an incumbent of the latter performs entry-level work. This class differs from the Correctional Counselor 3 in that an incumbent of the latter is responsible for leading and supervising others in counseling work.
Responsibilities
1. Calculates sentencing information to determine accuracy of an offender s sentence computation.
2. Verifies that offender sentencing complies with judgment order.
3. Completes classification/reclassification and/or risk-needs assessments for offenders.
4. Prepares reports on offender history, progress, adjustment, rule violations, visitation, recommendations for special visits, and other related statistics.
5. Evaluates all offender records, case notes, and information to ensure compliance with all applicable standards, laws, policies, rules, and regulations while under the guidance of a higher ranking Correctional Counselor.
6. Conducts and/or monitors Prison Rape Elimination Act screenings to determine potential victim or aggressor status.
7. Monitors environment to identify security related concerns in order to assure continued safety of facility.

Schedule and conduct therapeutic counseling sessions with individuals, families and treatment teams based on cases assigned and at the established acuity for each family. Uses trauma-informed, focused interventions to engage clients. Educates clients, family members, and other providers about healthcare conditions, prevention, available treatments, illness and whole health self-management, peer support and recovery.
Manages behavioral health crises through appropriate interventions. Respond to perceived resistance in a non-confrontational manner and intervene to help child regain control and reduce risk at it pertains to the position held.
Consistently records client progress in relation to treatment goals. Provides accurate, concise narrative when needed on any documentation, including progress notes, treatment plans, behavior management programs and discharge planning on an accurate and timely basis.
Make corrections to errors on any administrative or UM reports including but not limited to incorrect delivery methods, blank notes, overlapping notes, invalid diagnoses, and invalid/incorrect place of service.
Completes paperwork within defined timelines (Progress notes should be documented on the same day services are provided but are due - at the latest - within 7 days of the service that was provided).
Make contact with newly assigned cases within 48 hours of assignment and have first appointment within 7 days of case assignment.
