Required qualifications:
- Nursing degree/diploma required upon hire
- All Registered Nurses without a Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) degree or higher must obtain a BSN within 3 years of hire. RNs with 20 years of RN experience will not be required to obtain a BSN
- Unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in state(s) of hire, and wherever care is delivered. If RN holds a multistate license through the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), the RN must adhere to the requirements of licensure in the new state(s) of hire
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) card must be from the following authorized governing bodies: American Heart Association (AHA) - (BLS Provider), American Red Cross (ARC) - (BLS for Health Care Provider), or Military Training Network (MTN) - (BLS Provider) upon hire.
- 12 months acute care experience working with the patient population similar to department of hire or completion of the specialty residency at the Alaska Medical Center

About the Mental Health Department
Mental Health - 4 West is divided into three units, specializing in mental health care to both adult and adolescent patients. The adult unit is comprised of 12 beds, while the Discovery Units have 9 beds (west) and 6 beds (east). All units are voluntary. The physicians, multidisciplinary staff, patients and families work together to create an environment that fosters stabilization and planning for the patient's future needs.

Role:
Regular full-time position as Community Health Worker (eg. mental health assistant) for adults with chronic physical health conditions in the community. Under the guidance of the lead clinician, Community Health Workers will provide health coaching including education and skill-building in all areas of health and wellness. Community Health Workers will advocate for health needs, coordinate care with medical professionals, co-facilitate health groups and assist consumers in accessing community resources. Services are primarily provided with consumers in healthcare settings and in the community. Community Health Workers facilitate care coordination activities with mental health and medical providers as a part of a multidisciplinary team.

A Day in the Life of Residential Clinical Assistant Would Be:
Guiding residents through daily activities to include meal time, group activities, group and individual therapy, and ensure overall productive day for each patient in treatment.
Promote and maintain a safe and secure environment that allows for the proper delivery of care.
Assistant in welcoming and intaking new residents as they enter the facilities, while ensuring proper comfort and warmth at the start of their new journeys.
