POSITION SUMMARY

Takes a leadership role at Hospice for all issues relating to children's bereavement.

Works as a community liaison by promoting our community children's bereavement program in schools and other relevant settings.
Consults with other BV counselors on challenging cases and when necessary arranges visit with high risk cases.
Develops, prepares and maintains individualized client care progress notes with accuracy, timeliness and in accordance with policies.
Completes accurate documentation within the EMR system at the time of care and location of service. Where not possible or otherwise directed, completes at next available opportunity, and by end of shift without exception.
Provides ongoing education related to children's bereavement for our staff and the community when appropriate.
Keeps abreast of children's bereavement and counseling trends and knowledge; participates in ongoing education to support personal growth and development.
Works with local schools and guidance counselors to provide on-going bereavement support to children experiencing traumatic loss.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Master's degree from a school of social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or a master's degree in a related field required; LCSW or LMHC in the Applicable State preferred.
Minimum five years' experience working in the field of social work or mental health.
Minimum two years of documented experience working with children, preferably in a home care agency, hospital, outpatient clinic or mental health program.
Must possess a Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)credential in good standing. Or similar credentials (LMHC, LMFT) required.
Must have excellent organizational skills as well as effective written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve desired results.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
Valid applicable driver license and required auto liability insurance.

Primary Function
The Behavioral Health Specialist provides mental health support and clinical services to detainees housed in an ICE Detention Facility. This role is essential in assessing, treating, and monitoring individuals with behavioral health needs, while ensuring compliance with ICE Performance-Based National Detention Standards (PBNDS) and federal regulations. The specialist works closely with medical, security, and case management teams to promote psychological well-being and safety within the facility.
All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which Acuity International is recognized.
Responsibilities
Conduct mental health screenings and comprehensive psychological assessments.
Provide individual and group counseling sessions as clinically indicated.
Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to detainee needs.
Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records in accordance with HIPAA.
Document progress notes, risk assessments, and treatment outcomes.
Assist in preparing reports for ICE officials and legal representatives when required.
Respond to mental health emergencies and conduct suicide risk evaluations.
Participate in suicide prevention protocols and multidisciplinary safety planning.
Collaborate with custody staff to ensure appropriate housing and monitoring.
Coordinate care with medical providers, case managers, and ICE personnel.
Provide mental health education and training to facility staff.
Advocate for detainee mental health needs within the detention environment.
Job Requirements
Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
Licensed or license-eligible in the state of employment (LCSW, LPC, LPCC, etc.).
Minimum 2 years of experience in behavioral health, preferably in correctional or institutional settings.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care and culturally competent practices.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Must pass federal background check and obtain facility clearance.
Ability to work in a secure, high-stress environment with diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (English/Spanish or other relevant languages) preferred.
Has undergone a federal investigation at the level of Tier 2 or higher; has been granted favorable suitability/eligibility and has not had a break in service for more than 24 months.
Experience with ICE detention protocols and PBNDS standards.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Certification in crisis intervention or suicide prevention.
DHS or ICE detention center experience
