Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) app REQUIREMENTS APPENDIX 1 The temporary/relief LMFT shall provide services as permitted within the scope of practice for a LMFT in accordance with institution policies and procedures. Under the direction/supervision of the
Supervising Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or the Psychiatric Social Worker or designee,
LMFT's duties/responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:
a. Conduct assessments, and provides clinical treatment interventions such as brief
counseling, group therapy, and individual counseling.
b. Consults and collaborates with other disciplines for the care and treatment of patients and
participates in interdisciplinary care planning and coordination.
c. Performs assessments that assist with and facilitates transitional care planning and
coordination that links patients with community resources and services as they release
from CDCR.
d. Conducts assessments to determine appropriate level of intervention, education, and
counseling services within the context of marriage, couples and family systems as well as
individual biopsychosocial dimensions with specific solution-focused, attainable
therapeutic goals.
e. Conducts Cognitive Behavior Therapy for individuals with Substance Use Disorders (SUD),
either in 1:1 and/or group settings to modify intrapersonal and interpersonal behaviors.
f. Conducts assessments for patients preparing for release from CDCR.
g. Provides education and counseling services to individuals that encourage the development
of life skills and strategies for coping and confronting issues related to SUD.
h. Develops and/or contributes to treatment and care plans.
i. Reviews patient files, gathers data, and completes reports and other required
documentation.
j. Makes recommendations to the care teams and effectively communicates and collaborates
with the patient and all disciplines involved in the care of the patients.
k. Documents and evaluates patients' progress with programming and facilitates discharges

m. Attends all case conferences, trainings, meetings and committees as directed, and performs
other duties as required.
LMFT Qualifications:
A. All LMFT's assigned to CDCR/CCHCS performing services under this Agreement must have the
minimum qualifications outlined below:
1. Minimum of twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years
performing services similar in scope to those defined herein, in a public or private institution.
Internship does not count towards the required experience.
2. Must have the required licenses, permits, registrations, and/or certifications noted herein.
3. Education: Completion of a master's degree program from an accredited school for Licensed
Marriage and Family Therapy, that meets the requirements stipulated in Business and
Professional Code 4980.36.

Prior to providing services as outlined in this Agreement, Vendor shall:

1. Ensure that each LMFT shall possess and maintain throughout the term of this Agreement, a
current and valid LMFT license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science in order
to perform services in the State of California.
2. Provider shall comply with all federal, State, and local requirements including the California
Code of Regulations (CCR) Title 22, Division 5, Chapter 12, Article 1, Section 79543.
3. Provide copies of any required licenses, permits, registrations, and/or certifications for each
LMFT to the institution CEO/CME or designee to be kept on file at the institution throughout
the term of this Agreement. Vendor shall ensure that all required licenses, permits, registrations,
certifications, and any other requirements outlined herein are current and in effect at all times
during the term of this Agreement.
4. In the event the required licenses, permits, registrations, and/or certifications are to expire,
Vendor shall provide current/renewed licenses, permits, registrations, and/or certifications to
CDCR/CCHCS not less than thirty (30) calendar days prior to their expiration. If, during the
course of this Agreement, any of the licenses and/or requirements are found to be inactive or
not in compliance, CDCR/CCHCS may withhold payment for services rendered during the
expiration period and/or immediately terminate this Agreement.
5. Assume responsibility for verifying through the appropriate licensing boards that no current or
unresolved adverse actions have been taken by the State licensing authorities against any
LMFT assigned to CDCR/CCHCS, and that all licenses are active and void of misconduct.
CDCR/CCHCS may, at its discretion, verify the current status of certification for any LMFT
assigned.
T. Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor - (LPCC)
The Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) shall provide services as permitted within the
scope of practice for a LPCC in accordance with institution policies and procedures. Under the
direction/supervision of the CEO/CME/Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker or designee. LPCC's
duties/responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following:
a. Periodically serve on-call during scheduled workdays for patient emergencies, provide
consultation and crisis intervention services on an as-needed basis.
b. Conduct initial mental health (MH) evaluations including criminal, psychological, and substance
abuse case history to assess patient current needs and make treatment recommendations in the
initial evaluation.
c. Conduct clinically sound suicide risk evaluations, including clinical review, applying suicide risk
assessment protocols, pertinent data/chart reviews, proper documentation, and consultations as
needed.
d. Meet with patients for crisis intervention, group psychotherapy, in-person interviews, etc. The
clinician may be required to provide clinical, in-person interviews at cell fronts in inmate housing units.
In some institutions/facilities, due to physical plant layout and multi-tiered housing units, the ability
to climb stairs and walk long distances may be required.
e. Identify the relevant signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders in order to comprehensively
assess, diagnose and manage the presenting symptoms, consults with medical personnel

regarding the findings of medical examinations and evidence of organic disturbances related to
behavior disorders, and with nursing, social work, education, custody and other staff regarding
precipitating events, complications, and potential for adjustment.

Write clinical reports regarding diagnoses and prognoses and develop treatment plans that reflect
the standard of practice.
g. Consult on complex cases with supervisor, treatment team members, CDCR/CCHCS
institutional health care personnel, and other divisions within the department.
h. Document all care provided to the patient, including in-person contacts and Interdisciplinary
Treatment Team (IDTT) meetings.

Monitor patient progress using CDCR/CCHCS MH approved documentation formatting for
progress notes.
Effectively apply community standard of practice for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical

o. Facilitate patient transition between various settings within the institution/facility.
p. Perform pre-release functions for releasing patients, to include patient education, while facilitating
transition to county MH, county medical services and community MH treatment programs including
county addiction services; coordinate discharge planning activities and act as resource on accessing
appropriate community support and services to be utilized upon release.
q. Perform medical social work functions as needed.

Participate in and/or lead IDTT and other multidisciplinary meetings, develop, monitor, and modify
individualized patient treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary treatment team,
identify and recommend appropriate services and level of care based on assessment and, where
applicable, civil or penal code commitment.
s. Develop and distribute draft and final discharge plans.

Provide information (e.g., appointment documentation, no-shows, etc.) to support staff for data

Rank and Salary: Student Services Professional, Academic-Related I. Anticipated full-time equivalent base salary range is $6,221 - 7,000 per month. Anticipated salary is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience and may include health benefits.

Collective Bargaining: Counselors are in the California Faculty Association bargaining unit, therefore named Counselor Faculty. The position classification is Student Services Professional, Academically Related (SSP-AR1)
Evaluation: As a member of the California Faculty Association's bargaining unit 3, the counselor Faculty is evaluated in a Periodic Review (annually) utilizing review process defined by the Counseling Center and in the University handbook.
Background check: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be satisfactorily completed. Offers of employment are conditional and may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Out of State Employment: Per CSU-wide policy, all faculty who will begin initial employment (or return from a 12-month break in service) on or after January 1, 2022 are required to perform their work from within the State of California. Faculty assignments include in-person duties that must be performed in-person at the assigned location.
Mandated Reporter: The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
Clery Act: CSUB's annual crime report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus centers, such as our Antelope Valley Satellite Campus and on property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from CSUB. The report also includes policies concerning security on campus, such as alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, reporting crimes, sexual assault, and other subjects. Additionally, a daily log of offenses is maintained and can be reviewed at the front desk of the Department of Public Safety.
